I tried to connect my laptop to the net using BT on N95. I know I've done it before. And now it just decided to stop working!

I've spent 2hours(!) trying to fix it, installing, uninstalling, updating everything what's possible and nothing.

I'm running Vista Ultimate and I've read on the forums that it's really common! Now how annoying is that! But I know it was working before.
Apparently it's the lack of BT Modem drivers designed for N95 and Vista.

When I'm trying to connect using Easy Access from PC Suite it says " Can't establish network connection"
It works fine via USB and everything else works fine using BT (file transfer, sync etc).

Any ideas??

Dont use Vista, new crappy OS :icon13: :icon13:
But a more than 5 year old tested and now at its best XP :icon14: :icon14:

Simple as that in sooooo many questions and errors, wich NOT appear in XP PRO, now with almost SP3 out.

Give VIsta atleast 1>2 years more, and so much will be fixed 😉

Cheers all 😊

I know...But I got with new laptop and it was all shiny, new and tempting...😊
Couldn't resist and now just can't be bothered to reinstall all the applications...😞

Hey there i had the same problem with my n95 and vista ultimate. I *finally* got mine working by using an older version of PC Suite - the two newest versions dont have the required drivers. Im at work and don't have my laptop with me, but I can provide the PC Suite version mine is working with later if you wanna give it a try

That would be brilliant!! Thank you!!😊

If your BT device on the laptop is working then set up a DUN with a standard modem over bluetooth link BT connection and bypass anything to do with N95 drivers. It works on winXP.

Edit
I just did it to verify that I wasn't dreaming the whole thing. I works as a standard modem without N95 drivers!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe that's how you did it before?

Edit
Hang on cos all I said might be bxllxcks as the connection might be picking up on the Nokia drivers already installed.

The Vista hating is tiresome. I have Vista ultimate and it works perfectly including PC suite over usb, bluetooth, wireless network etc.
Try looking into the problem rather than just blaming the OS

I agree. I do hate Vista, which is why I deleted it, but telling someone to get XP when they already have it is pointless.

Are nokia aware of the vista problem?

And that's exactly what I did! I said I was trying for two hours and hence this thread, to find a solution to run it on Vista.
But I have to admit that it's not the only problem I'm experiencing which wasn't there on XP. It's all mainly with the lack of drivers and even if they're there, they still don't work properly.
But u have to admit that the whole installing new hardware procedure on vista is a joke!

My comment wasn't aimed at you.
I haven't found any problems installing on Vista. I have added and changed hardware and it is always very simple (more so even than XP).

Agreed. I've been running Vista on my laptop and home PC for nearly a year now and found the experience to be easier than XP. Certainly not had any trouble with anything related to my phone - have been running PC Suite, NSS, NSU without any problems or tweaks. I'm also getting a bit tired at having to defend Vista, but at the end of the day I know I'm using the better OS 😊

I also use my phone as a bluetooth modem regularly, without going through PC Suite just like pa39 said - just added the N95 through the bluetooth driver stuff and it appeared as a "Standard Modem over Bluetooth link" device; a dial-up internet connection was also set up automatically.

Vista Ultimate Edition 64Bit with the lastest updates is the way forward. Runs as a quick as XP but with all the added extras. Nokia software seems to work fine, no problems yet.

I had mine running on PC Suite 6.82 but it also runs on the newest version, 6.85.
I have Vista ultimate and an n95 and it works. All i can suggest is to uninstall pc suite, uninstall the n95 from your devices and try installing again.
It is likely Vista will tell you it cant find the nokia drivers, but as mentioned above you can use the standard modem over bluetooth drivers.
PC Suite 6.85 should be all you need to get it working on vista ultimate, you shouldnt need any third party drivers etc.

Thanks mcb00f,
I thought I was going nuts!
Yup, it works with generic bt modem drivers.

Does anyone then have BT dialup settings for T-mobile UK?
All I can find on the net is some few years old wap settings.

Dial - *99#
Access point - general.t-mobile.uk
User - t-mobile or user
Password - pass
Modem initialisation string - +CGDCONT=,,"general.t-mobile.uk"
Default security settings and everything else OFF.

It's working!!! Brilliant! Thank you so much!
