ok as i promised here is the prototype n95 cover! didnt really go 2 plan though as the original😡 paint surface reacted with the new paint however i think the crackled effect looks pritty kool, and it's laquerd over so the surface is smooth! i knew i would need an isolating layer sprayed doen first but i didnt have any in stock so the results are a bit disapointing for me!!
more covers and isolating paint on order!! so u can see a finnished product hopefully in a week or so!
since the cover reacted i thought i'd showw u some other things i have sprayed with the flip paints aswell........

I am, yes. I don't see anything in Firefox (even with adblocker disabled) and they're showing as red Xs in IE7.

your looking at about £10 for a 'genuine' *ahem* cover on the bay, or about £2.99 for a fake but different coloured one.
So I guess, depending on the costs to you, you'd look to pitch around the original mark and sell the benifits of being the only selller doing that paint.
Pitch high and sell the benefits, or ... start low, make it an auction and see what the highest bids are and mark the rest just around that 😉

yeh the fake covers dont take 2 well 2 the curing proccess!! so would have 2 be originals

yeh i couldent compeat with them on price! but it is a unique product!
the paint it's self costs �133 a ltr, and then u still have the black base coat and the isolating layer!
i reccon i would end up having 2 sell them for around �30-40
im going to do 10 samples and sell them on ebay, and see how it goes! see if it's worth it!! the question is are ppl willing to pay that amount for a fon cover???

I think kontraband is on something there. Just pop them up on auctions starting at 99p (with maybe �5 delivery, cos you don't want them getting scratched during transit) and see how they go.
If they sell well and you start making more, you'll need a way of doing them all in bulk, saving you a little time and effort.
yeah, I know the paint is expensive... that one of the reasons you dont see it on all the cars! 😉

Would anyone really spend �30 - �40 on a cover for an N95 that they may well have got for free?? Perhaps you should also try your auction on the US ebay, as they probably put more value in to their handset than us over here??

hi there i think they look great. i would pay �30-40 for a case like that. but whats the durability like on the finish?. i mean its great having the most PIMED s60 out there. but will it look horrid after a days pocket storage. very interested though. i mean if you paint well.your finish will be great like the original nokia finish. need a beta tester?????😊 let me know when you start the auction. good work

i'v got the cover on my n95 and im doing the durability testing myself but that for the offer:tongue: .. i am a car painter to trade and i do sum custom work and i have painted my fones in the past and havent had any problems.. they are finnished with High solids 2k laquer same as wot u get on cars so the surface is very durable i cant scratch it with a coin!
i have the paint and covers on order so i should have some products to sell in about 7-10 days!! and with loads of colour choices! prob about 12 diffrent colour choices all flip paint and one rainbow flash colour...

I can source a genuine 95 8Gb facial its only the front cover, the back is rubber and I cant find new ones of that. Can you pm me your address details and I will sent the facia to you? Shall we call it £30 all in inc postage? I happily settle for any flip colour you have in stock although blue/red would nice.

I quite like the "crackled" finish of your first attempt, but a smooth finish is cool as well - as long as its pretty tough.
I would be looking for a red flick paint finish if possible.

I think the most important thing with customised covers is that they dont turn to shit after 3 weeks of being in the pocket. I hope the flip paint isnt like that, and would be very interested, as should you stiofansisland , to see if a few weeks down the line.
If its still looking good then you gotta be quids in...
If its chipped and wearing away like the £2.99 cases, then it doesnt set it apart much.

thanx kontraband!! youv been a gr8 help!!!.. i have done this before with fone covers for my self but have never went into production.. the flippaint is finnished with hight quality 2k car laquer! the same you would get from any bodyshop! most ppl who spray small things ust 1k laquer because u dont have to invest in the airfed mask and ther is alot less wastage!
however 1k laquer cures threw solvent evaporation and isnt as tuff as 2k which is a chemical reaction which means it would sett hard in the north pole! i have has my fon in my pocket with my change and i am testing this cover but i dont expect any problems!!

To save on ebay hosting, it would be a very good idea to have a link to a website that shows all the colours you can do. I know it will cost a lot to do initially, but there will be nothing like pulling in punters with a full range of colours and choices.
Pictures of all options, on all sides would be a good start, and under different lighting.
If/when you do set up this, please post it as Id like to see it. Quite interested in getting one, but price is too high for me. Not saying you should go below cost though, thats me being stingy 😉

allready on the cards m8, i own a hosting company so thats not gona be a problem! and i do web design aswell.... and i plan on spraying up a load of samples and taking loads of pics for the website!
sorry bout the price but it's the joys of owning custom products.. it's the same with anything . bike helmites, car paintjobs, suites... u get ot u pay for....
if u send me a 6110 cover i will spray it up for u and u can test the tuffness and quality, it will give me an opertunity to spray a diffrent cover and also to get foto's pm me if ur intrested!😉

It would be a very interesting test, as although it lives in my pocket without anything else in, I do use a car mount. Its an official nokia one, so if it develops any scratches/marks it would be good to know.
