Just thought i'd let people know that new firmware is available for the Nokia N95 8GB on Vodafone Uk. I've yet to update but i will post any changes i find.
I hope the instability of the music player is fixed

ive got sim free 8gb model and its on 10.0.021

there is a newer version though 11.0.026

whats the differences??

Has anyone updated their 8Gb to the new vodaphone firmware, what version is it, what are the improvements?

well, i updated last night. Can't see many differences although the music player does handle better which is what i hoped.
The demand paging seems to be a bit quicker too.
looking now and i've got about 15 applications open and still got 80mb of ram free.

has anyone else updated and noticed any differences?

Hi

Did you lose the spiderman movie when you updated the firmware?

Thanks

yeah i did 😞

It now says expired certificate 😞
ANyway of fixing this?

I have updated to the new firmware and the phone does run more smoother and seems more responsive. Out of interest is there anyway of increasing the volume the phone can play music through headphones. Maybe it might be me being deaf but it seemd quiet compared to other MP3 players I have used 😞

just updaated my N95 8GB sim free model. Had to use the new beta nseries pc suite version 2.0.230.0 to get it to work properly! Couldnt even get the latest normal pc suite to do it right.

Anyway backed up put the new firmware on took about 15 mins.

Spiderman didnt work but after i did a restore using pc suite from my earlier backed up file it now works 😊

pics before and after taken on my n73..

😊

just dont want to have to keep doing it. Didnt mind this time as i had not even touched the phone, only got it the other day. But when I have set it up and installed my programmes on it updating the firmware wont be so easy.. think anyway!!

I didnt do a backup as it was a new phone I didnt think I'd need to! Forgot about Spiderman....any ideas how to get it back?

I'm due to get my n95 8gb tomorrow through Vodafone.

After reading other posts, updating the firmware before I get going with it seems to make sense.

Reading above I'm guessing I should back up Spiderman if I want to watch it. Any other steps I should take? Does the Nokia software give me options to back everything up before hand?

barry. Ive just done mine as you might have read.

I suggest you dont use the nseries pc suite you can get from nokia.co.uk and use the beta newer version from nokia.

I backed and updaated firmware and still got spiderman..

Thanks for that.
If I want to unbrand it, do I have to backup all the default sms/web/voicemail settings?

Don't restore settings made with one variant and version of firmware to another version and variant. Rarely a good idea for any product.

Most of the operator sepcific settings should be read from the SIM card when the phone restarts. Otherwise the network operators website should be able to send you most settings in an SMS.
