Hi,
I have this problem, where if I try to put any large movies on my N95 8GB under "My Videos" folder, it crashes Video Centre everytime I open it. If I move the movie out of that folder, Video Centre is fine. I tried 200MB files, such as TV series and Video Centre plays it ok.
The large movie file itself does play in Real Player if I just browse to it and play, or if I play it through Gallery.
It seems like the size of the file is the problem, but I know someone who has played 800MB file in Video Centre and his one is fine, plus, the Spiderman movie played ok (That's gone now as I upgraded the firmware).
I have performed hard reset, soft reset, re-formatted the flash disk, basically had it with all original settings with nothing on the phone, and it still doesn't work.
Can anyone help, or shed some light on this, as this is really annoying me. I only bought the phone 10days ago, so if there's something wrong with the flash drive I would like to return the phone. However, I do doubt that as the movie plays fine outside that folder.
I'm hoping it's just a bug in Video Centre!
Please help... sorry for long post.
Looks like not many people are having this issue, which concerns me.
Can I ask, does anybody have any issues playing full length converted MP4 movies greater than 600MB, from their Video Centre application, i.e. movies which are stored on the "My Movies" folder.
Thanks
I was having issues with it before i went generic on my firmware. I put loads of movies on it, and it hated the bigger files. However, since putting generic firmware on i haven't had chance to upload the movies, so not sure if it's fixed or not.
It's a really frustrating problem!
I'm on a generic firmware and it's happening on mine, I have figured out that if you attempt to play over and over again, i.e. just keep going back into Video Centre, it eventually plays. However, thats not a solution, hardly even a work around, considering everytime you add another movie, you going have to do the same again.
It's definately having trouble loading refreshing it's list of movies.

It's probably more likely to be that not many people here have the N95 8GB 😊
lol, fair comment, it is rather new. Does the original N95 have the Video Centre?

It does, but I don't really use it so can't give any useful suggestions.
Hi hongsit
Well i don't have this problem and i have two films one is Resident Evil @502mb and also Kill Bill 2 @659mb both in the My Videos folder and they both play from the Video Centre without any problems.
They are both converted using Movavi Video Converter with the iPod 320x240 MP4 settings and the quality and sound is excellent, what setting have you converted yours to? although the fact you still play them from elsewhere doesn't really make any sense that the there is a problem with the files. The only problem i have with my device is i can't delete an Album title from the Music player only the contents but others have reported they don't have this problem.
Sorry i don't have a solution or even a clue why.

Hi, thanks for letting me know, at least I know this isn't a widespread problem. Something is not right, and trying to get to the bottom of this is very difficult. I know several ppl with the same issue as me, but have at least 3 ppl say they have no issues.
So the only other thing I can think off, is a problem with my flash drive? i.e. have trouble caching or reading. This is only an assumption, but my music, movies (Outside of Vid Centre) all play fine, no lag, stutter etc.
I did try to use Nokia Movie Manager Yday to convert a movie (something I never done before), and that copied it across, but crash my phone when ever I accessed it, i.e. I had to switch off and on again.
May try your suggested software to convert the movie, but not holding out for any sort of result.
If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your phone?
I bought mine from MobilePhonesDirect.co.uk, so did my cousin, and we both have this issue. My other cousin bought his on contract direct from Voda, and he doesn't have this issue..... long shot!
Thanks
Hi hongsit
Mine also came direct from VodaFone but was flashed to generic firmware as soon as it became available. As i really hate branded firmware and although it looked quite minor it really makes a diffrence being unbranded IMO.

Have a look at the end of this similar post on n95user site - the problem is not having a image link for video centre to lock on to - all explained on post - if it helps it might be worth dropping `disturbed racing` a thanks on n95user forum
