Just read on FAQ nseries site that if I upgrade my firmware on my n95 8gb without first activating nokia maps I actually lose nokia maps!
Is there anything else I need to do before upgrading the firmware on my new phone that I havnt even used yet?

From now on i'm always going to recommend making sure you sync your calendar and contacts with outlook before any firmware upgrade and dont just rely on nokias backup thing that isnt guaranteed to work.
If you genuinely mean you haven't used the phone at all then this is probably not important but something certainly worth noting before future upgrades.
