Nokia N95 8gb Unlock code ?

Hi guys

I've just got a new Nokia N95 8GB on Voda. Is there anyway to unlock it to use an orange sim card ???

Many thanks in advance

😊

Only way to do it is to contact vodafone, and ask for it. It costs 20 if your not out of contract (which i assume you arent).

Beware anyone claiming to be able to unlock it, they simply wont.

Simple really...

Once you have unlocked your phone via Vodafone they will no longer do a doorstep swop with a replacement phone if the one you have develops a fault. Instead you have to take or send it to Nokia and possibly wait weeks (or in my case with my N70 three months) for them to repair it.

So by unlocking it elsewhere it saves a lot of hassle.

So you mean they log that its been unlocked by them (i.e. sent you a code) and this goes against giving you a replacement?

Yep,

they told me when I asked for the unlock code. If i had the it unlocked by them I was no longer eligible for a doorstep swop, as effectively you were removing the phone from their network.

Mm, Id have challenged that. Certainly when I unlocked one of mine there was no mention of this. Are they allowed to do that without informing you of the change of status?

Hi everyone,

The information above regarding network unlocking with Vodafone is actually incorrect (although I accept that might be because of what Ratkat has been told by a member of staff.)

Getting your phone unlocked by anybody other than Vodafone will void your warranty. Getting the handset unlocked by us is cheaper and ensures the phone is covered in case anything does go wrong. I apologise for the misinformation that may have been given on previous occasions by our staff.

Vodafone can provide the Network Unlocking Code (NUC) for any of our handsets free of charge if the phone is over 12 months old. Any handset younger than this incurs a charge of £19.99 including VAT. With Nokia phones we aim to have the code available within 72 hours, although this can sometimes take longer.

Hope this helps,
