Best email method with Exchange

I want to access email on the N95. I have my own Exchange Server so I can configure it any way I want. The trouble is that my mailbox is big - over 1Gb so I wanted to use it in a way where the email stays on the server. I have installed Mail for Exchange but I have not Synced the email for fear that it will try and download the entire mailbox to the phone. Is this the case?

Is there an Outlook client for the phone that can be configured to keep the email on the server? Or maybe I can add IMAP to the server and use it that way? What would the client be? Any advice?

Dataviz Roadsync; proper Activesync for S60.

The later releases of Mail For Exchange from Nokia are also quite good apparently.

As I said, have just installed Mail for Exchange but that is purely an interface to the server - presumeably that downloads all the emails to the phone so that they can be read offline. I need an online solution.

MFE only downloads the first part of a message - if you want to get the rest you just open it and choose to download.

Mine is setup to get the last month of messages, although there is an option for all messages.

You'll have to work it out based on number of messages times about 3K for the headers and start of a message I think.

When I set it up, I could not see any configuration settings for this - can you please let me know where this is set?

M4E automatically only downloads "first part" of the message. There isn't any setting where you can define how many characters it should be. When browsing through it you'll be given the option to download the rest of it (without any attachments).
Furthermore it does not automatically download any attachments (it has to be done manually from whitin the e-mail containing the message and you'll have the option to select which attachment to download (if several)).
And, as already sad, you can define how long back in time to download e-mails (like keep "one day", "one week" etc..).
This settings is under Options\Edit profile\e-mail.

I wouldn't worry much, an e-mail when downloaded will be of much less in size then the size when it's in "Outlook".

I was a Roadsync user and ever since Mail for Exchange 2.1 has come out, it converted me back. MfE gets better and better with the newer versions and the only advantage that Roadsync has over MfE is that you can select the subfolders to get. Otherwise. MfE has got the same and more features such as Task Syncing and better GAL lookups AND finally - MfE is integrated into the new SEARCH on the phone so that you can search the messages properly!! such a good feature.. hehe

All that's missing is HTML formatted mails. But then the text message client on S60 is pretty poor too in my opinion.
