Lifeblog problem N95 8GB please help..

22 replies · 9,202 views · Started 13 December 2007

When i try and open Lifeblog on my phone on the n95 8gb i get the error tone and it says "Cannot access lifeblog database"

why is this is it because of a setting i need to change/ memory in use or is it because i have installed and put too much stuff onto the phone in one day?

How do I sort it ?

thanks in advance

Liam

try use a file manager such as y-browser to delete the lifeblog directory in c:\data.... and then try again.

bradfordlad wrote:can I try installing over it first might that work?

you can try what you want! 😉

Maybe best to move the file first, or rename it before you try anything else...

But I have known that the suggestion works.... so I guess you can only try?

thanks for your advice.

So i will remove it using the program you said then download it and install it again.

I presume the file for the standard N95 from here-
http://r2.nokia.com/nokia/0,,71751,00.html

is the same program I will be removing on my n95 8gb?

edit-
you said in your post just to delete the directory I take it this is different form deleting the program!

😊

just hold off on that... Im trying it again though this time on my own N95-1 and I cant delete the lifeblog.db as its in use..

Last time I did it it was on a collegues N95 8GB... I dunno for sure if the link is te same for 8gb and -1?

ok thanks for trying. Nightmare this lol

I dont even use lifeblog and always thought it would slow the phone down what with keeping a log of everything I save/take send etc. not sure if this is true though?

As I said im on a n95 8GB and when i try and open it in gallery i get the above error message. I just want to sort it somehow... Not sue why im getting the errror at all. Maybe its because i imported so much data across? then again it should adapt for that. Or is it because I havent done a sync with the pc or something.,, whatever the reason its annoying that I get an error every time i try and open the program..

When you say you did it on your friends n95 8gb was he getting the same error on his 8GB? as i said im on an 8gb too..

Liam

ahahah collegue... not friend! 😉 Theres a difference... HAHHA

yeah, same error... and he had a stupid amount of messages and MMS messages....

Im trying to delete it on mine but cant at the moment, although I can rename it... so maybe I can over write it now?

Can you see the attributes of lifeblog.db with ybrowser???

What are they on yours?

not got the phone with me at the min. Il try later today and post findings on here.

did your colleagues 8gb get sorted doing it that way then? I read your post as if it worked on his but on the n95-1 you cant do the same thing? If i can delete it should I and what does this delete?

if i rename it does that mean I overwrite with a new lifeblog program and the old renamed file just sits there?
(or is it just deleting the attributes as in the info for the program rather than the lifeblog program itself)
thanks for your help.

ARRRGHHHH!! Lifeblog!!!

😉

yes, it worked fine for him... but Im stuck at the moment..

not doing anything else.. so I'll play

Update>> Ok, it looks like it cant be removed from the N95-1... so not sure why it was ammendable on the 8GB?!?!?!

If I change all the settings in it to not import anything... it changes them back to import when I restart the phone.... bugger.

cool, let me know how you get on. Dam lifeblog. Is it bloatware then does it slow the phone down? i always imagne it does as its recording everything you save/send recieve etc?

Liam

well seeing as I cant get shut of it I cant tell you how much it slows the phone down! 😉

It only pulls in the photos and messages and stuff though when you run it, and update the timeline... so I dont think its an issue in anyway..

ill try on mine later see if i can amend it on my 8gb..

how would i put it to not import anything if i cant open the program, is this impossible for me to do?

is there no way of turning lifeblog off then, its constantly importing stuff!!?
lol

update read your post, thanks. Dont even know if the program is installed on the phone or my mass memory

If your really stuck mate, I guess as a last resort you could reset the phone soft/hard. As lifeblog is part of the fw it may fix the issue?? Im outta ideas at the moment now... after it being something so easy before!?

Ill give it a go like you said and see if it works on my 8gb handset.

Whats the differences with a soft/hard reset, will i lose everything either way?

Liam

no... a soft reset just sets the phone back to factory without deleting data.

Hard reset wipes it and goes back to the begining to manufacturers settings...

Soft tries to fix blips.
Soft you wont loose anything
Hard you will .

BTW, that link you sent for nokia site, is lifeblog for the PC ... not the phone. Its built into the phone...

I see. The only way to get lifeblog for the phone is by downloading and installing a new firmware file!
Its part of the firmware rather than a sperate optional program.

Liam

no... you dont HAVE to download a new firmware...

You can reinstall the current or hard reset to manufacturers settings..

It may be to do with the large amount of data its importing...

Id be interested to hear if you can access it thru ybrowser...

Keep us posted.

kontraband can you check what ive done please..

installed Y-Browser (do you suggest I keep this program or are there better ones out there?)

then went to C drive- Data- Lifeblog
then there are 4 folders Database Notes temp and TextIndex.

I think I actually deleted all files i could in database there is one item in notes nothing in temp and textindex.db in TextIndex.

Lifeblog is now working agian!!

Have I deleted too much though or is what I have done correct?

Wonder why you cant do the same on N95 -1??

Liam

P.S I emptied tlifeblog afterwards and its removed my sound clips and some pictures!! does removing them from lifeblog also delete them from the gallery???

ok cool... so its worked... must be ab 8gb thing then?????

what youve done is fine then,,,,,

I was under the impression that you shouldt loose any pics/texts from deleting the lifeblog stuff..... so not sure about that one... lifeblog is supposed to snapshot the stuff youve done, not manage it.

😕😕😕😕😕😕I knew this discussion forum is related to Nokia N 95 and N95 8 GBs, but since i am also facing issue in lifeblog, i m posting my lifeblog issue here. I had downloaded the beta version 2.0.230 from Nokia Beta labs...SO i had Nokia Photos also installed on my PC. Now the issue is whenever any image is sync-ed with Lifeblog, that image wont be sync with Nokia Photos and vice versa, this may be because Nokia Photos may be replacing existing Lifeblog or both may be sharing the same database, But i want to use both Nokia Photos and lifeblog what will be the solution for this.........:con?

i dunno mate.

What i do know is my laptop is fullof nokia stuff! I click on start menu and all i see is nokia this and nokia that!

Cant nokia just have the one program that does everything? Oh i forgot thats PC suite isnt it? lol its got so many components and they are all sperate and thrown together.

Anyone agree with me?
