Wifi automatically connecting...

Hi Guys,

I have just recently noticed a strange behaviour of my n95,

Whenever I plug it into the standard wall charger (havnt tried any others) it opens a wifi connection, it doesnt ask me if I want to, it just does it, looking at the connection details it says that its inactive but shared by 2 apps (no idea which ones though). I can close the connection and it'll stay closed (until next time I plug the thing in)

There are no apps running at the time and I've used ytasks to examine the processes but cannot see anything untoward.

I have wifi scanning switched off, and it drops the connection as soon as I unplug the charger.

is this standard behaviour? I never noticed it before.

I have a N95 (01.01) RM-159 and am running 20.0.015 firmware

Thanks for any advice.

I remember this exact issue happened to me as well.

It was the SymSMB application that is basically always in memory. There is an option to activate the phone as an SMB server when the power is in. You can go into the app and switch it off.

This issue drove me nuts for like 2 months until I finally realised what it was.

Hope it helps..

Hi bchliu,

Many thanks you we're spot on, its been driving me potty since I noticed it, also changing that setting fixed a *problem* with symSMB not closing the connection when exiting.

Anyway, Many thanks again!
