Nokia today announced Dirk Spanner, a first party game for the Next Gen N-Gage platform due out in early 2008. Apparently the game lets you look round locations by moving the phone around in real life, thanks to camera-based motion detection.

There have definitely been camera games before, but I don't think there's ever been one where you actually look round the gaming environment.
The only camera games I've seen so far superimposed graphics on top of the real world and you had to zap them.
I must say I'm impressed with what the guys have done with this one. Like System Rush Evolution or Creatures of the Deep, this is one more game raising the overall quality level of the N-Gage games.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to these quirky first party games much more than stuff like FIFA.
I think the name is meant to be a parody of Mike Hammer, the famous fictional American private detective.
