I recently bought an E61i on Vodafone (UK) using the Vodafone Business Email services powered by a Visto mail client.
Whenever I hit the email button the phone takes me to the Nokia Software market webpage and won't let me know anything else. I've tried to configure the button on the settings page for the correct email account but to no avail.
My workaround has been to use the Own Key button to launch the Visto client, but I want to use that button to launch another app.
Any insights appreciated. Thanks.
Hi macmilm,
I can see you've tried to set the email key to the correct account, were you doing it via this process?
Menu > Tools > E-mail key. Select the e-mail account that you want to use with the e-mail key.
If you were, it sounds like there could be a fault with your handset. If you got the phone directly from Vodafone and you're still within your contract the handset will be covered by warranty, so please give us a call on 191 so that we can arrange to fix the problem.
Hope this helps,

Thanks for the reply. What you suggest was indeed what I was attempting. Sounds like it may be a problem with the handset so I will get back to the supplier.
Thanks.
It does it on all the E61i's that we have at work.........so I presume they all feature this quirk
If I hold the "Mail" button down it takes me straight into my mail client (Mail for MS Exchange) to create a new email
If I press the button it takes me to Nokia Business Software Downloads and I've been unable to change this
Very annoying, especially seeing as this piece of kit is supposed to be my "email buddy"......can't even press the dedicated button and see my inbox!
This was fixed in the recently released 2.0633.65.01 firmware. Now a short press takes you to the default inbox (you choose which is default) and a long press opens a new email, ready to start typing.
Upgraded firmware to the latest, still the dedicated email button launches the browser - have configured it to take me to Mail for Exchange but it's not playing..............
Thanks for the tip jonquirk. Like samster, I downloaded the new firmware which didn't resolve the problem, but did manage to wipe the Vodafone Business Email application (even after a full backup/restore through PC Suite). I think it's best just to use Own Key as a workaround. The VF (Visto) application is pretty clunky and you can't help but think it hasn't been properly tested for these phones. Slick marketing, poor delivery...
