Wifi conenction timeout? (maybe?)

I have an N95 on Three, with the free applications - Skype/MSN etc. Although it has MSN messenger, it doesn't compare to Agile Messenger for functionality.

I've setup my home wifi network as an Access Point which works fine with launching "Web" and choosing that as an access point. But I would like to use some other IM programs while sitting around at home. I've tried Agile Messenger and IM+ and they both suffer from the same problem. ICQ seems to sign-in, and stay signed-in without a problem, but MSN goes in, last 30 secs then signs out! Yet if I connect via 3's data connection, it's fine. I think I've ruled out the application as I've tried two different ones. Tried two different wifi points too. And even more annoying, once it's signed-out, it won't sign back in without me rebooting the phone. ICQ remains signed in throughout, on both apps.

Has anyone got any ideas on this please? I currently don't have unlimited data so to be able to use these via wifi would be great.

Cheers!

No suggestions I'm afraid but just to say I use Agile and IM+ for Yahoo and Skype respectively and both connect and stay connected as required without any problems. No problems signing out/disconnecting/changing status either. Something to do with your router/firewall settings?

I've tried 2 wifi networks, same issue on both. I'm pretty sure it's not that, as I work in this industry and I'm happy it's setup properly.

MENU>TOOLS>SETTINS>CONNECTION>WIRELESS LAN>OPTIONS>ADVANCED SETTINGS
and yes to change.
DISABLE AUTO CONFIG
scroll to power saving

I remember seeing this too, when I was poking around in the menus a while back. Will give it a go and report back - thanks guys! 😊

That was precisely what the problem was, thanks! Doesn't explain why MSN was signing out and ICQ didn't, but hey....it's all good now with the power saving turned off.
