Autotracking and view direction always North?

With version 12 and free maps my autrotracking only views North unless I manually point in the direction I am actually travelling but then it does not stay in that direction or change as I do.

How do you change the view to show the direction of travel in both 2D/3D like a normal sat nav?

Am I being fik? :con?

That's just the way tracking works - it just shows the map with your location and the route highlighted, it's not meant to replace navigation. With navigation it does auto-rotate, but I guess that's not free.
