Battery charging on modern batteries?

is there any damage whatsoever to charging new nokia batteries like those in the N95 before they are fully flat??

do they need to be charged a long time on the first charge?

No, there is no danger, quite the opposite, it's better to try and keep them as close to fully charged as possible.

The phone will switch off the current when it decides the battery is full. Leaving the charger connected longer wont hurt. If you are charging via some external device, then you'll more than likely damage the battery if you leave it on too long. There is no need to charge for a long time on first go, when it's full, it's full 😊

does it matter charging it a bit then then taking it off charge before it is done?

Nope 😊 Other than that sad feeling in the pit of your stomach that you have to leave home with a battery that is not quite full.
