N96 leaked

It just looks like a modified N81.. with dual slider

I am not too sure how much better in features this can have over the existing N95 though other than a new shell and maybe touchscreen (which I loathe).

Have to wait til the specs come out to make a proper decision on it!

Ooooh, very pretty. 😊

But yeah, reading the article it doesn't seem much of an update when compared to the N95, unless there's something else that they haven't mentioned. What else can they squeeze into a phone now?

[EDIT] Here're some N96 concepts to have a look (and a laugh) at:

for a start .. its a standard on high end Japanese phones, like the Sharp 920
has been for 3 or 4years now.

I'm disappointed we don't have proper specs yet but surely its got to have a optical zoom? This too is "old school" on the Sharp 910.

.. early days .. I guess but this is NOT the update I'm waiting for.😡

Oh I forgot to add this as a minimum requirement for the next phone .. a VGA screen .. sorry QVGA doesn't cut it these days.

Fake IMO. Unless theres something inside, then theres no new hardware improvments over the N95. Cant be touch screen because it simply doesnt look big enough.

Unless its another model number (N8x etc), or nokia have lost the plot, I seriously doubt its the N96.

Would you like to revise your opinion?

It's not a touch screen. Here are more shots of the N96 with views of the battery compartment:_

Nope! But if its not fake I still think Nokia are losing the plot. Isnt the N9x series supposed to introduce new hardware?

It's got 16GB internal memory, DVBH digital TV tuner thingy and plays DivX files, amongst ther features.

Where did you get that from?

Outta his behind maybe.. I am suprised no one has claimed 10 megapixel, 3x optical zoom or the ability to shoot Phaser beams at up to 10x settings as per Star Trek.

Its definitely got me sold if it has sharks with laser beams attached to it or something!

None of that is very impressive, even if true. My betting is that the tuner isnt worth squat, they rarely are without a proper arial.

The 16GB, well Id still rather have a card slot, or even better, both.

Divx files, meh. You can convert them to something playable anyway.

Edit: According to the pics, it looks like its got a card slot anyway.

However, I dont beleive any specs at all, unless it comes from a reputable source rather than guesswork.

DVB I can believe; thats already out in phones from LG and Samsung and they will be winging their models to the uk after christmas. Divx player; not really anything to boast about, you can get that for free already, 16Gb is a possiblitly; I doubt apple used there own drive in the iPhone, so it something thats prob available from a Japanese manufactuer. So what we are really seeing here is the N83 with a most of the internals from the N95, but in a smaller, sleeker package.

My understanding of the next new Nokia, was going to be fitted with a larger touch screen, with slid out keyboard..

Lets wait till Q1 or 08' to see what Nokia brings....

Nah, it only has mutated seabass for now. The sharks/laserbeams feature is in the works

Do those buttons look touch-sensitive to anyone (a la LG chocolate) ?
Not sure what those'll work like, but could be intriguing.
I usually prefer the tactile response of the real thing - but if it's good enough, I may be open to persuasion. 😃

Other than that, though - it just looks like an N95-8 with an N82 (or is it N81 ?) button cluster.

The DVB-H tuner works just fine in N77 at least. Why would they make this one any worse?

And yes, card slot is included in addition to the HUGE internal mass storage (which I personally prefer over a memory card)

Fair enough, I havent tried one on a phone, but every single tuner Ive tried (including high gain ones) for PCs/laptops are crap.

Where did you hear its got internal storage then (16GB size)?

The phone is ok i still like my n95. the touch button or screen is a joke i used to have LG chocolate the same as the n96 with touch button/screen and it sucks its to sensitive. I dont think will sell good as the n95 but who knows.
