NokMote is only meant to be for donors until the final beta comes out. Can riffina or a mod please remove this link?

Wow... a public release already?

I didn't see any annoucement from Samir's site though?

What is the latest beta version currently anyway?

tried it ... very flakey but great for proof of concept. top man Samir for public beta release.

There is no public release.

Riffina's posted it against Samir's wishes. He posted this (and the first) beta online only an hour and a half ago, and now someone's made it available to all.

Makes me sick!

that's the software world for ya ...

Ultimately the release of this will affect the general users in the end, because when people can get hold of the betas without giving donations as support, sooner or later Samir's gonna cut short his effort, and there's never ever gonna be any release of any sort again.

Totally agree. It's one thing to crack software from big developers but one individual who spends his free time developing some of the best apps for the device needs all the support he can get not little pricks like riffina spreading it for free

you know what I don't like about Samir ? the fact that he's giving the beta's just for donators ... and he says "My releases are free and will always remain free" !!!!! where is free here if he requiers donations to give out the softwware ...😮 I do not get this ... so what ??

the donations are for people who want to test the program before the final version is released to the public
when the final version is released it is free
now please remove that download

What he means is that the software, when it's released properly and not in a beta state, will be free. He can do what he wants when it's under development and, frankly, Samir's being very generous by making all donators beta testers.

He has every right to ask that the beta not be shared out to those who didn't donate.

please remove the link
if u want the software
just donate to him
instead of giving his hard work away
and by doing so
u r encoruging ppl not to donate but instead just download it for free

i do agree with whats said but it could make more people donate to make the beta version better when they see what it could do ??????? :con? :icon14: :icon13: 🙄 :frown:

allready if u search for nokomote in google u get the link to this post in the top 10!! how many ppl are gona clik on it to get the programe!? alot!!

but thats just IMO🙄

i suspect noone has removed it because its christmas day and the admins are to busy to come here.

anyone found the best games to use with nokmote yet?

and is it just me, or does it not quite work as shown in his video, eg; to skip through pics in gallery, i have to hold phone infront of me, horizontaly, and rotate it clockwise to goto next image. not simply push the right side of phone fowards as im sure he did in video...

I spent 2 hours to get the file for signing without any luck.
Can anyone help me with this, please?

Isn't there a Mod around who can close or disable the links in this offensive thread?

Great Xmas present to Samir isn't it?

I. like riffina am totally confused by this issue. In the PC world where I am more experienced private individuals release 2 types of software; freeware which is just that and shareware which you have to pay for.

In all my years I have never come across any software that actually charges you (aka donations) to be a BETA TESTER. The concept is absolutely absurd! Who, in their right mind, would pay to beta test a programme that I who have paid nothing can get for free? Is it purely kudos?

I have no issue with freeware that asks me for a donation AFTER I've installed it and am happy it works as it should. Labour isn't free after all. But to pay to be a guinea pig I can't understand.

As this is freeware I am assuming that Samir is producing this for the benefit of his fellow Symbian S60 owners and not for profit. I am also presuming that he is a gifted amateur and does not make his living from such development.

So can anyone please explain this donation to be a beta tester so my simple mind can understand.

Finally, I do not mean to offend anyone by my comments. I am just very interested to understand this concept.

Cheers

I also find it absurd that this so called freeware is only free if you donate then you have to get it signed before you can use it??????

It now seems Samir is overwhelmed with mail that he wants you to register with your paypal details on his forum

He must be making a fortune with the amount of donations he has recieved judging by this email..

Thank you for your kind donation.

As I receive more and more mails, it's very hard for me to read and reply to them.
Sending beta files by mail take also too much time.

So I decided to open a forum.

You can get access to the Nokmote section by registering with your paypal mail address at http://www.bysamir.fr/forum

You can post your suggestions, feedbacks or bugs, get information about the development process and download the latest beta version of the program.

Regards,
Samir.

if you dont want to pay then WAIT FOR THE FINAL RELEASE!!!!
if you want pay and become a beta tester then do so, if you cant understand this and post links to his software on a forum then get lost your a disgrace and make me sick!
i hope you put alot of work into something one day and have someone come along as give it away for free

On second thought after reading what you said, I have to fully agree with you though. Have to say this is the first time one has to pay to be a beta tester. If you think about this deeper, Samir not only benefited financially but at the same time received feedbacks on the software from PAID beta testers. Isn't that kinda ironic and oxymoronic as well? "Paid" and "beta tester" just don't mix together.

:icon14: to you for seeing this from another angle.

Samir's a cool writer, but perhaps he approaches this whole "freeware" conceptually diffrent from others.

First of all , I wouldn't ask people for donations during beta testing whilst claiming it's freeware . If they choose to donate after the final release and it's signed ready for use that's different. imo

choice is yours... pay or wait quite simple
if others want to pay to help him develop the software and help pay his costs then thats their choice noone is forcing you to do either.
if you think its wrong then keep your pennies in your pocket and wait for the final release.

Pay for a preview. (A few keen people pay, so a lot of people get a free gift) .

Not an unknown concept.

Good marketing? Maybe, Maybe not. But, if you agree to take part via a donation (your choice, you don't have to) you also agree to respect the developers wishes.

Otherwise, feel free to wait for the final Free Release.

If it is still free, or even likely to happen after this.

You don't get it.

If this paid beta-testing continues, you will NEVER see a final release free for others. Don't you understand that?

There are only 3 types of softwares in this world:- Commercial, shareware and freeware.

Which category does Nokmote falls in? Remember although he did promise a final release in the future, he never sets a known date for that. It might take forever and you cannot fault him.

Go figure.

Loads of stuff. Anything you pay a premium for, that afterwards gets cheaper.

Never mind, if he has read all this, he will have learned a valuable lesson.
