Hey everyone,
I've come to a bit of a crossroads. For the past year I've been using a Orange M3100 (HTC Tytn) on Orange running Windows Mobile 5 (upgraded to 6). I've quite enjoyed using it, and the ability to load and change ROMS with new/updated features and performance has been a good feature.
Before the M3100 I used a Nokia N70 for a year and although I found it to be a bit sluggish - it was still a neat phone to use.
So the time has come to upgrade my phone again - and I'm looking for advice on the current crop of Symbian phones and the advances of the Symbian platform since the N70.
I know this is a Symbian forum - and that the Windows Mobile platform will probably get shot down - but it would also be useful for anyone who recently had a WM device that swapped over to a Symbian phone to give there opinion s as well.
Hope you can help....
Arran

You already said...
I try both OS, and still prefer Symbian, is a little more intuitive then WM.
But on more recent times they are more and more close. Its almost a competition between Nokia and HTC, because the two play the major league between both OS, and more a hardware competition - better camera, battery life, weight... not exactly OS related. And both became more boring, when we see the fresh iPhone with that kind of Mac OS...
Confuse... maybe!
There are some OS differences, mainly related to software.
First of all S60 3rd does not have any PIM that comes close to touching funcitonality and utility of the PIM best there is on Windows Mobile ie Pocket informant.
Second, there is no S60 3rd program that can do what OneNote Mobile does nor can the only attempt (ActiveNotes) sync to a desktop.
Third you have no outlook categories in S60 3rd.
Fourth, I dont think any S60 rd software can record your calls without beeping every 15 seconds. On windows mobile, I think you can find that, which means interviews and notes type of usage is far more viable on Windows Mobile
Fifth, Windows Mobile overall has far more software available, both for pay and freeware.
Only when you understand all this can we now go discuss the hardware differences, which are vast.
I felt the S60 3rd devices were more "phone-like" in sound quality and that was my primary consideration why I picked S60 3rd, but you do give up something.
it is close. If HTC would do a better job and Win mobile wasless kluge-ey and less crash happy, I might come back.
