Stream audiofiles from your Mac to the N95

The latest firmware (20.0.015) allows you to playback audiofiles using the uPNP program built into the firmware on the phone. (see other threads on this forum for more).

However you need a uPNP server program on your computer to use it.

PC users can use Windows Media Player 11, but for us Mac users there's now a great free solution!

I've found that Elgato's EyeConnect:

Works perfectly and the best part is that the free trial version (30 days) will continue to work in audio only mode after the trial period. Since the N95 can't play videos via uPNP anyway the only thing you don't get when the 30 days are up is the ability to view photos from iPhoto.

So now you have a very good and FREE solution for streaming audio from your Mac to your N95

Now try THAT on an iPhone

While the iPhone indeed doesn't support UPnP, Orb already has iPhone support. A much more complicated / slower (no LAN connections unless you manually rewrite the URL's to access local IP's) solution, but it works.

Yeah, Yeah - whatever - N95 has Orb support too you know.

That's not the interesting part - it's that eyeconnect works well (and free for audio) with the N95

Ohh, and by the way:

Orb only runs on Windows - so good luck making that work in OS X....
