Hello out there! I'd like to know if i can download older firmwares (prior to v20) so i could try flash them to my n95, which i must say has suffered a general black out since updating to the latest firmware from Nokia.
Has anybody been through this?
Thank you people-enjoy your day
older firmware?
You would have to invest in some third party product like Jaf to be able to downgrade your firmware, though why you would want to do this is a bit of a mystery. V20 is better in nearly every respect.
When you upgraded to V20 did you restore your old settings? Doing that will mess up your phone, the firmware itself is fine though.
Actually i only sync with outlook and that's it.no restoring any backups. When i firstly updated to v20 everything was rolling ok. After a short period, the phone was acting really weird(messed up colours, disordered menus, buttons wont work, screen turned black and had to reset ) so i once again updated to v2o after hard formatting it. Though, the same problems/errors appeared again up to yesterday when i was sending a message and the phone switched off and never switched on again 😞 !. Actually ,when i turn it on i can hear the startup sounds but i cant see anything, just mixed/meaningless colours for a while and then back to total black! . Nokia Shop wont accept my phone because is bought from ebay(used to be on orange and now debranded). So, i 'll try to fix it my self and i am asking for your help!
Sounds more like the slider ribbon is failing or screen is failing to me?
I think I read it here someplace, quite a few of the early N95's were prone to having the ribbon fail.
There are quite a few video's floating around about how to dismantle the N95, it is quite simple to do, sounds like you've got nothing to lose by opening it up. Like Tony above said, check the ribbon is plugged in properly, if all seems to be as it should, have a browse around for a replacement screen - I'm not sure if Nokia would sell you one directly, though there are plenty of others that will.
my n95 is finally on again and ringing! I took my device to a private mobile service shop and after 2 hours he called me back to pick it up.The problem was,as you mentioned, the lcd screen. He installed a new screen and that's it.no need to change firmware as i firstly believed. Thank you people
Glad to hear it's working again 😊 Hope it wasn't too expensive.
