Those who don't use predictive generally don't because they're unaware of quite how easy it is.

I have tried it. I try predictive text everytime I get a new phone, for about a week.

@Pheonix SZ

Here we go again just because it is something you like and think is an advantage it has to be for everyone else, otherwise we are missing out on something. as you make with this claim.

Well sorry but as other posters have mentioned i to hate predictive text and i have tried it and just don't like it how ever great others find it for me it is rubbish and awkward and a complete waste of time and effort.

Same goes for this wonderful new Skye search app i am quite happy using either the Contacts app or even the Nokia search app both of which achieve what i need in a quick enough reaction time for my needs.

I really don't like to fill my devcie up with apps i deem unnecessary so again what may be brilliant for you or some others very obviously isn't for all us. Freedom of choice as to what we install and use on our devcies is one of the great things about S60 if you and others want to use Skye and think it's brilliant fine use it but myself and others that think it is necessary and pointless we won't.

As i don't use my devcies keyboard anyway i use a SU-8W which suits my needs but may not suit anyone else's, i am also not in such a hurry that a couple of seconds to perform any function means the difference between life and death. There really is no right or wrong in this only what suits each of us best and that we won't to use is what counts.

Relax dude.

@Pheonix SZ

Thank you for your suggestion but if i was any more relaxed I'd be dead.

Is there any reason that you feel the need to quote an entire post every time you answer even when the post is directly above your answer? as not all users visit on a computer many do so on their devcies and I'm sure the extra scrolling and data is a pain for them, just seems kind of pointless really.

Yes.

1) - Because someone may have gotten in a response between the time I read your post and my time of replying.
And let's face it, there's nothing lamer than an undirected reply.

2) - Laziness.

@Dogmann

You always start your replies so well...

Then they deteriorate into a ramble...

Dogmann wrote:for me it is rubbish and awkward and a complete waste of time and effort.

We could apply the same theory you've thrown at Phoenix in that just because you find it awkward and a complete waste of time and effort, it doesn't mean it is.

I wholly disagree and it personally irks me, when internet folk feel they can criticise something without even having tried it. I believe that is what Phoenix was getting at. If you've not tried the app, you cannot have an oppinnion about whether its of any use to you.

You are however quite right, you don't have to install anything if you don't want to. I just disagree with disregarding something without having tried it.

What a response !:reddy::reddy:

@Logan1981

Well maybe if you spent more time reading and comprehending what has been written rather than trying to come up with witty responses you wouldn't end up talking rubbish.

So if instead of chopping parts of what i have said out and you left in it's full context it would be more understandable as to what i said.

"Well sorry but as other posters have mentioned i to hate predictive text and i have tried it and just don't like it how ever great others find it for me it is rubbish and awkward and a complete waste of time and effort."

No where in there have i said anyone else that uses it is foolish or wrong or even shouldn't use it if they want to, all i have done is quite simply stated that for ME i don't like it or wish to use it. It really doesn't matter how brilliant or time saving anyone else thinks it is if i just don't like it never have done in any devcie. Now unless i have woken up in this New Year in a world where i have to do as others wish MO hasn't and won't change just because others feel i am missing out.

Now with this you have made me laugh

"I wholly disagree and it personally irks me, when internet folk feel they can criticise something without even having tried it. I believe that is what Phoenix was getting at. If you've not tried the app, you cannot have an oppinnion about whether its of any use to you."

First off just where have i criticised this wonderful app no where is the answer as i haven't, i am quite able to read the review of what the app does and understand exactly what additional functionality it adds to our devcies it's not that complex an app or difficult to understand it's functionality so why would i need to install and try an app that i have no interest in, just because you think i should well that's never going to happen. As to how not using it precludes me from having an opinion is without merit of course i can form an opinion as to whether it is something i am interested in or not just why would i need to use it to have an opinion? Now if i am missing out and my productivity will suffer i can live with that as it's my choice to make not yours or anyone else's is it?

So before you try and tell me i have no right to criticise an app i haven't used go check i have actually done that before throwing your false accusations around and maybe you will remain less irked as it looks like you have a problem reading what is written and like to jump to incorrect conclusions doesn't it?

So if instead of chopping parts of what I've said out (don't end on a preposition) and you left (add "it"😉 in it's full context (comma) it would be more understandable as to what i (capitalise) said.

No where (no space) in there have i (capitalise) said (add "that"😉 anyone else that ("who"😉 uses it is foolish or wrong or even shouldn't use it if they want to, (full stop/new sentence) all i (capitalise) have done is quite simply stated that for ME i (capitalise) don't like it or wish to use it. It really doesn't matter how brilliant or time saving anyone else thinks it is (comma) if i just don't like it (full stop/new sentence) never have done in any devcie (typo). Haven't bothered with the rest.

You need to be more concise and observe syntactical conventions (including more use of the carriage return) to make your stream of consciousness-style rants at least readable.

@Pheonix SZ

Oh dear, is that the only feeble response you can come up with when confronted with the facts, some times saying nothing really is best especially when you have nothing of any value to say.

Marc

Dogmann wrote:@Pheonix SZ

Well how many feeble responses do you WANT me to come up with ?

"Facts" - an interesting new use of the word, IIMS.

Apart from which, it was only posted for your edification - and (hopefully) the benefit of those reading your subsequent output.

@Pheonix SZ

I'm sure you could continue for quite some time as your posts are now beginning to show that yours are the arguments of a defeated intellect, but don't let me stop you from displaying your ignorance please do proceed. As at this time of Year we can all do with a bit of entertainment and a good laugh.

Marc

Enough.

Agree to disagree.

Please keep it on topic.

Dogmann has not bashed the application, simply said that it would be of no use to him.

Its the start of the new year, so lets not have a thread thats just degenerating into flames. Any further posts not on topic will be deleted.

there are a good few forums that i visit on a day today basis and most are very informative and worth a look but day after day i search through posts on aas with good headlines and all that is within them is rambling and arguing like little girls, usually totally off subject and complete nonsence. havent you guys got anythin better to do??????????????????????

I agree, this thread needs to be cleaned up and/or locked because I count approximately 5 posts which are actually useful in the context of the OP! Far too often threads here deteriorate into arguments (and I admit I've fallen foul of this myself) over whether or not an app or function is useful which is completely pointless becasue no ones opinion can be universally 'right'.

Dogmann wrote:Well maybe if you spent more time reading and comprehending what has been written rather than trying to come up with witty responses you wouldn't end up talking rubbish.

I read and comprehended your posts exactly as they were intended.

Dogmann wrote:So if instead of chopping parts of what i have said out and you left in it's full context it would be more understandable as to what i said.

Show me an example of this please. From your previous post, I left out:

Here we go again just because it is something you like and think is an advantage it has to be for everyone else, otherwise we are missing out on something. as you make with this claim.

Simply because this was part of a discussion between you and Phoenix, I had no reason to interfere. There was nothing for me to comment on.

The only other part I 'cut out' was:

As i don't use my devcies keyboard anyway i use a SU-8W which suits my needs but may not suit anyone else's, i am also not in such a hurry that a couple of seconds to perform any function means the difference between life and death. There really is no right or wrong in this only what suits each of us best and that we won't to use is what counts.

I could still have quoted the above two parts in my last post and it wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference to my comprehension of your post.

Dogmann wrote:No where in there have i said anyone else that uses it is foolish or wrong or even shouldn't use it if they want to, all i have done is quite simply stated that for ME i don't like it or wish to use it. Firstly, I never accused you of saying others were foolish or wrong. Re-read my post please.

However in answer to your question, to me:

Dogmann wrote:Well sorry but as other posters have mentioned i to hate predictive text and i have tried it and just don't like it how ever great others find it for me it is rubbish and awkward and a complete waste of time and effort.

...Same goes for this wonderful new Skye search app

Is indicative that you applied the same opinion about predictive text as you did to the application you haven't even tried.

Dogmann wrote:Now with this you have made me laugh

I'm happy you're happy 😉

Dogmann wrote:First off just where have i criticised this wonderful app

See above.

Dogmann wrote:no where is the answer as i haven't

Above says otherwise.

Dogmann wrote:i am quite able to read the review of what the app does and understand exactly what additional functionality it adds to our devcies it's not that complex an app or difficult to understand it's functionality so why would i need to install and try an app that i have no interest in

Then perhaps you should have thought about NOT replying to the thread in the first place. No doubt Bart will see it completely the other way as Phoenix and Bart appear to have some history on this forum, and as you were aiming your posts at Phoenix in particular, quite obviously Bart will be inclined to lean your way in this discussion.

But basically, your posts have done nothing but incite these type of replies which some will call incorrectly 'flames' (apparently you cannot have a discussion on forums anymore without sombody declaring it a flame...). Similarly, to incite such replies can be defined as 'trolling'.

Dogmann wrote:just because you think i should well that's never going to happen. You're going off on one here, and I'm not entirely sure why. Throughout, I have not tried to force your opinion on anything. In fact, I'm pretty sure if you re-read through my replies to you I have agreed with you several times regarding your points being made that you have the freedom of choice to install, try or buy etc. any software for your phone.

Indeed you can form an opinion based on whether the app will be of any use to you. But you didn't stop there did you?

Dogmann wrote:Well sorry but as other posters have mentioned i to hate predictive text and i have tried it and just don't like it how ever great others find it for me it is rubbish and awkward and a complete waste of time and effort.

Point in case.

No. You do.

This is now locked, as 3shirts said theres nothing constructive anymore.

Indeed we did, but regardless of that I asked it to keep on topic, and 3 times now people have not, so its closed.

As a mod I am going to be more impartial, but still voice my opinions. I certaintly do not 'side' with anyone. I simply agree with dogmann that the application isnt for some, and you do not have to use one to think it would be useless for your own use.

If you feel I am being in some way unfair, you can PM Rafe and he will look into it.
