Windows Live Messenger on N95

I don't mean to sound stupid or anything , but I donwloaded Windows Live messenger from Nokia and installed it on my N95. I set the access point to my home wlan, and when i try to sign in I get the following message: "sorry, this service is not available yet outside of China, mainland HongKong etc". Is it comon knowledge that WLM doesn't work on the N95? or am I being thick? Or is it a faulty install?
Peter

Did you download it via the "Download!" icon on your N95? If you didn't, try it from there. I got my version through that.

No, I got it from Nokia to my Pc desktop and installed through the installer. i give your suggestion a go, ta.

Zxon, I went to the download! icon, in there are 6 more icons: Internet, Amazon, Productivity, Gizmo, Games and Servces UK. I don't seem to able to see any download for Messenger though. Did you mean the Gizmo I.M. thingy?

There should be a folder in there labelled "WinLive". If you don't see it, press "Options" and then "Refresh List". When you see it, open it and download "Mail and IM". This will be the messenger.

If the phone is branded, it's more than likely that the winlive folder has been removed by the operator, you would need to debrand and update FW to get it back. most UK operators have removed it

This would make sense, I thought 3 were the only Operators shipping the phone with Messenger. Unfortunately, I know nothing about debranding the phone and don't want to ruin or damage it. Would debranding invalidate O2's warranty? If so, just to get Messenger would be a daft move?!
Ta for the reply.

There are more benefits in debranding, especially if O2 has not released the latest firmware (20.0.015).

Try to look at the threads discussion this new firmware and you will see what you can gain be debranding and getting it on your phone.

Hint (50% more free RAM, faster camera, no keypress bug...)

very true, my n95 was on 02 though I am on t-mobile contract, debranding has improved my phones operation and got rid of all the rubbish, it is now as nokia intended it to be, and just like having a brand new phone

@Peter321, the firmware installed by O2 is V12.0.013. Shit, I've only just noticed this, I thought the camera was slow!? I'll check out the firmware and debranding-specific threads.
