I am quite new to Nokia. I have had my 6120 classic about 3 months, previously I had windows mobile phones.
I like the 6120 because it is the latest Symbian and is small and light.
Can anyone tell me how Nokia name/number their phones; it there a pattern the numbers follow or reason why the 6120 is so called?
Also how often does Nokia update a handset. When could I expect a 6120 replacement?
For those question, I think, even Nokia people, does not have a clue🙄

In brief (and this is not meant to be a definitive guide):
Phones are produced by three divisions in Nokia, although this changed at the start of 2008:
Phones: these have four-number names, such as 6110 and 8800.
Enterprise: these start with E, such as E90 and E55.
Multimedia: these are smartphones, and start with N, such as N95.
To complicate things, all three divisions produce smartphones. The 6120c, the N95 and the E55 all have the same operating system, for example.
For basic phones, the lower the first number, the more basic the phone:
1xxx and 2xxx are very basic devices, often sold in developing markets
3xxx are mass-market phones and include some smartphones
4 isn't used, as it's not an auspicious number in China
5xxx are robust sports phones or music-oriented phones
6xxx are traditionally business phones.
7xxx series devices are often a bit weird or ahead of their time (the 7110, for example)
8xxx phones are aimed at the more-money-than-sense market.
The E and N devices have no obvious pattern to the names, but in general, the higher the number, the more expensive the device. Similar phones are often grouped together.
The name "6120" has been used before, which is why your phone in the "6120 classic".
