I am about to update to V20 from 15. I have read about not backing setting after update. If I reinstall back up from memory card will this will include the settings or just contacts in apps?
I have a fair few apps on it, do I have to reinstall all of them after the update?
Many thanks
I recommend you do a full reinstall of all apps after the update so if you have any installed on the memory card, uninstall them first.
To be honest I find it easier to keep all apps installed on the phone memory anyway, for this exact reason.
Great cheers, will the backing up using pc suite be suffieicent for all the aps or wil they be retained on the phone during the update???
Here's what I do....
Save a copy of the .sis file of the apps when I first download them to a folder on the memory card. This makes it easier than downloading them each time I re-flash my phone.
Then I do a sync using PC Suite to copy all my contacts and calender items etc to MS Outlook.
Do F/W update.
Sync to move all the contacts and calender items back to the reflashed phone.
Freshly install all my apps from the memory card, but install them on the phone memory.
Whole process about 30-40 minutes or so.
I wouldnt do a back up, and restore as this usually screws things up.
Ok backed up bar settings, done my fw update all ok except I content copier will not find the back up despite me seeing it in windows explorer!
What do i do?
Cheers

I refer to my above post, but I fear it may be too late for you........
Nope, managed to get contacts from mem card n just reinstalled apps from pc again that i could find. So far so good...
Going from V10 orange to V20 nokia FW, i backed up the various things individually, such as creating a backup file just for contacts, one just for messages, etc.
Something screwed up along the way as now I have no calendar entries. i backed up calendar onto its own file. oh well...
I can recommend GooSync if you have a google mail account. It syncs your calender to google calendar so when you do a firmware flash yu can just stick goosync back on and re-sync. I use google calendar anyway so this is ideal for me and it's free.
