New firmware and restoring phone

Hello all. Seen there's a new firmware update for my N95 8GB. I'd like to get it but really don't want to spend hours reinstalling all my programs and settings to get the phone how I like it. Did it before and look several hours.

I have a full back up on my 8GB memory so if I updated the firmware and then restored from the memory how much would be restored?

My phone has been debranded so no worries there. Just want to save some time and hassle.

Any tips would be appreciated.

To be honest, I have done a backup and restore 3 times without problems on my N95-1 but when doing it from v12 to v20 I did have some issues so reset and rebuilt from scratch. It's easy to do that though so try a restore and if you notice problems, then do a hard reset and rebuild it manually.

yeah I would agree with that... 😊

remember to do a sync as well before updating, so you dont lose your contacts + calender items etc if it does go belly up 😉

Without hijacking this thread too much, I debranded and upgraded FW on my N95 without backing up and restoring (Didn't think anything was worth keeping!). Now it doesn't connect to EGPRS, only GPRS on GSM network. Is EDGE worth the trouble to get O2's settings back on it?
