Just installed it - everything works just like it did before ... Flash Lite 3 is nice but the only thing I ever needed it was uTube and emTube was working just fine before.
The music menu list is still fucked - deleted artists still in the menus, unable to delete them... Nokia must have a clause in their hiring practice that you have to be an absolute moron to work there. The hell if I'm ever buying another thing that has the Nokia name on it... will be selling my P.o.S. phone on ebay soon I think... soo much money on such a piece of crap, buggy as hell phone - stupid me for falling for all the Nokia fanboys claiming this is the best smart phone ever - this phone is far from smart - far, far from smart...
:icon13:
here here!! and so say ALL of us! or me anyway :icon13:
roll on March 1st when im due for an Upgrade, wonder what HYPE will stir up next, a phone with even more features and full of bugs again!
NOKIA SUCK !
will be nice to get a Stable phone, wonder if it even exists?
i give up!
I'm just wondering... have you tried bluetoothing songs by these deleted phantom artists to anything else like a PC to have a look at them? Maybe they're MP3s that have incorrect details in the ID3 tags.
My apologies if this has already been suggested
No, these were the pre-bubled songs that came with the device and one of the first thing I did was to remove them as they were not quite my favorite kind of music. None of the files are on my phone - if you try to play them, it tells you to go to hell, if you try to delete them it tells you to go to hell... I think I'll be telling nokia to go to hell soon.

Well the only song I ever had bundled on the phone was the Moby track, which I deleted using the file manager before I opened the music player, you also need to remove the corresponding 'dcf key' from the 'actv.keys' application.
I always backup and format before a firmware upgrade.
Its a hassle but you get a brand new phone effectively.
Well, its a bug in N95 8gb and N95 (FW V20)
When u delele an album contents in the music library, even the album content is completely removed , an empty album will still remain in the MUSIC library, even u refresh the music library ,it will still exist.
If u try to delete it , u will get an error
"General : Feature not supported"
Here is the solution to delete it :
* Firstly, connect your phone to a PC via USB.
* Choose Data Transfer (a.k.a. Mass Storage). Do not select PC Suite because you wont be able to browse protected folders in PC Suite mode.
(Or just take the memory card out and put in a card reader)
* Open Windows Explorer on your PC.
* Go to \private\101FFC31 on the phones folder.
* There, you should be able to find the mpxv1.mpd (for MP3) and pcv5.mpd (for AUDIO PODCAST)
* Goto \private\101f8857\Cache
* Goto \private\101ffca9
* In all the 3 folders delete all the files Not the FOLDER
* Now refresh ur music library
Worked for me on the N95, so should work also on the N95 8GB.
To be honest, for me not a serious bug.
Greetings
Tom
Thanks Tom - that worked like a charm - I've been looking on every Nokia and Sybmian/S60 forum I could find about a solution and was never able to find one.
It is a pain in the arse to have to do this every time you delete a bunch of songs but thankfully I mostly add new music currently rather than delete it so hopefully I won't have to do this too often.
This is pretty rediculous for normal users to do though (as I can guarantee you that 99.9% won't be able to follow these instructions) and you have to agree with me this is pretty stupid for them to leave it like that. How hard it is to make it automatically dump these cache files when doing a Library refresh?
Got mine sorted, no major headaches after restoring from the memory card.
Forget youtube, you have emtube for that. Can someone tell me if sites like youporn work now?? 😉

certainly does. and I just got the evils from my boss as some young birds moaning just bellowed out on the phone speakers at work
The things I do in the interests of science.....
Yes, I thought it was a spoof site or something. For future referance, its NSFW.

I am not a Nokia fan boy, but you need to compare this with all the other phones out there. There is nothing that comes remotely close. Nokia have packed a shed load of technology into this thing and a lot of new technology at that. Nothing this feature packed and new is going to be completely bug free, and you will be stupid in thinking so. (Compare this to Windows or Linux, where you are installing updates on a weekly basis for the last 5 years or so, and they still haven't got it right).
Your only gripe is the music library not updating correctly??.. Christ , get a life!
Its not like Nokia have been sitting on there hands either, the last firmware update brought you a performance improvement as well as you tube support in the browser. I think most people can forgive them for forgetting about a small bug which may have simply been overlooked.

I agree, there is nothing that comes remotely close the the N95, and I understand the bugs but what I don't understand is Nokia's stand or philosophy of intentionaly not giving us what we want.
Where is the video editor ?????? They know we need it, but they only just added the basic one.
The N95 also have an accelorometer, where is the auto rotate feature of the N82 (I dont give a crap about this feature but the thing is: they can do it, they just don't want to.

From a personal perspective, I don't see the point in a video editor on the device itself. The input/control method is too fiddly to do this on a phone. I would much rather take the video off the phone and edit it on a PC
Also, I think the auto-rotate feature was deliberately left off because this is not solely a media phone like the N82. I spend most of my time with the phone in portrate mode, and would irritate me if it kept rotating without me wanting it too. (Given, that Nokia could have at least included this as an option).

I thought it was extremely handy on my old N95-1 even though the RAM made it into a nightmare I EXCLUSIVELY used the phone video editor.

It is included as an option on the N82 not mandatory, and as a flagship device in my opinion it should include it on the N95s
just checked didnt know any new software was out yet. Whats new then compared to 11?
Should I install it then do a restore from nersies pc suite or not?
I backed up to mass memory and then restored with no problems.

regarding this. I dont know what you mean. I deleted a track in my music and it deleted the artist no problem. I cant see it in there anymore...
What do you mean???
Hi all,
To be honest this is the only bug i have found on my N95 8GB, Liam it is when you have an Album that you wish to delete it will delete all the tracks in the Album folder but the folder with the Album title will remain. The only way i found to resolve it was to reformat the Mass memory, but as i have now gone back to using my 5th Gen iPod for Music it will not effect me again but it was very annoying, although it appears not all N95 8GB are effected which is very strange IMO.
I have found the update to have made quite a bit of difference the Gallery app opens much faster and the thumbnails also appear straight away now no delay at all, the search app also now opens much quicker. In fact the whole device seems slightly quicker and smoother in all operations, i think overall this is a great update especially as it adds Flash Lite 3.0 and i believe this is the first devcie to get it meaning the N95 8GB really is becoming a class leading devcie and just continues to get better.
@dorisall
If you head over to Mosh @http://mosh.nokia.com/ and search for Widgets you will find quite a few the only ones i have installed so far is the Battery Monitor Widget and the GSM network monitor Widget but i am sure now that Nokia has included this feature in the N95 8GB we are bound to see more Widgets starting to appear soon.
Marc
ive upgraded it now. Its a shame back up and restore isnt 100% perfect. It doesnt make everything 100% back to how is was. I have now to reinstall nokia device manager etc
Makes me wonder what else is not there so I end up going through the whole thing checking everything!
I know what you mean about the gallery opening faster now...
Surprised there was a firmware update out so quick didnt expect it.
Wonder when the next one will be?
One thing I have noticed is when i have upgraded my phone turns on and then it starts trying to install something but fails god knows what this is...
PS whats flashlite 3 and how is it different from what was on before? Can i now access full You Tube?
also is it correct my c drive on the phone (phone memory) now has less space available?
Ive also noticed Maps now closes without showing itself shutting down. Just makes it feel quicker.
Still no Yell.com search in search function!!
Liam548 wrote:Still no Yell.com search in search function!!
Did you know you can download a dedicated yell.com application from
www.yellmobile.com ?
It would be nice to have it incorporated in the search function, but the app is at least an option for now.
Have updated to v15 and reloaded from Backup except Settings.
However if I try and access Gallery, either from the Menu or the side button, it opens up and then fires me straight back out again.
I have tried reinstalling but it does this before any Backup is installed.
Any suggestions please?
i restored settings with no problems.

Well, I only use my phone for email and music. When you slide the phone down, what does it open? MUSIC KEYS - hence this is one of the main features of the phone, yet it is broken.
I have a life, thank you very much, but when I dump $700 on a phone that one of it's flagship features is music and entertainment, I would expect it to work properly. And for Nokia to not fix this issue for 3 firmwares already given the fact that there are tons of people complaining about this issue who are screaming bloody murder is quite dumb.

mine doesnt open music keys when i slide it
I seem to have solved my Gallery crashing problem by trial and error.
I could not get Gallery to remain open after firmware v15 update either by accessing it from Menu, last image button or through Video Centre - My videos.
It would seem that a Nokia Nseries video I had downloaded weeks ago in Video Centre - Nokia Nseries was causing the problem. As soon as I deleted this all functions now operate correctly.
ive got all the nokia videos and nseries videos too
