Hi Liam548

For MSN IM you have loads of different apps that will achieve what you are looking for one is MSN Messenger Live which replicates what you have on your desktop including Live Spaces for uploading your pictures. Or alternatively you could use an app such as Fring that not only gives you many IM clients but also the ability for free Skype to Skype calls and Skype out calls at normal Skype out rates if you are a Skype user. It also supports many other programs and even SIP clients and works over both WiFi and 3G.

This is my app of choice as i only use Skype for my VOIP calls but it continues to improve with additional features coming all the time the latest update now includes the ability for hand off between various Connections and even remembers access points you have previously logged into so doesn't require logging into a a network you have already used. Full details can be found on there website @ www,Fring.com to see if it offers what you are looking for or not.

Sorry Liam, I ended up not using it just for these types of complications. There are several other servers you can connect to which might give you better options. Off the top of my head I don't recall what the other sites were, though google Nokia built in IM and you should have no trouble 😊

Excuse me for suggesting yet another app, but has anyone tried an im app by lonelycatgames called 'slick'?

Its a NATIVE app that supports connection over wifi, and if anyone could write great s60 apps, LCG could.

Cheers

You're excused. No problem to suggest other applications, we know there are many and generally they are all far better, though he did ask about the built in one 😊

The problem I have with 3rd party do it all instant messengers is that the 3rd party generally sits in between you and the real message server, sucking down not only your chat sessions, but your passwords as well. The number of applications that can connect directly and fully understand the protocol stacks are few and far between. In that regard, LCG is the spy in the middle. The interface might be good, but their intentions are unknown.

so anyone using IM app from nokia to run messenger? ideally capable over wi fi..?

Yamingo aint working correctly
