Issues with v20.0.0.015

Apologies if this is covered off elsewhere - I was unable to find it.

I recently upgraded my N95 to 20.0.0.015 and while I am pretty happy with it there are two annoyances which I can't get rid of:
1. The Multimedia Key no longer works. Whenever I press it, it shows the Media application selector for a short time (less than 1 second) and then this closes.
2. It is much more unrealiable with Bluetooth carkit connections (well its a Sony Ericsson HCB30). It used to work fine, but now I get perhaps a 30% success rate. One key problem seems primarily when initiating a call using voice dialling. Sometimes the phone will just freeze and I have to remove the battery to reset it. Other times it does not find the carkit, or it gets staticy and breaks up during a call.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Mike

those of us with keyboards have noticed it .. so I'd be picking this gets fixed in the next release.
demand paging has advantages .. but as with anything new a few odd things would creep in.

@Wonderstuff

My Multimedia key still functions as it should with no problems at all, don't use a Bluetooth car kit so can't comment on that at all.

@seki

Have noticed what? i use the SU-8W bluetooth Keyboard and leave Bluetooth running all the time so i only have to turn power on the Keyboard to use it, i have experienced no connection or drop out problems at all. Which Bluetooth Keyboard are you using? and what problems do you have?

Marc

Talk of a V21 firmware for the N95-1 surfaced last week, so although this may never actually be released, it at least shows Nokia is working on another firmware update for us. Lets just hope these issues get addressed 😊

I have hassles with the Stowaway driver that is used with the Dell foldup keyboard (drivers named "Think Outside Series60 OS9 En" for the SIS file).
When installed, I get 2 or 3 system errors every time the phone boots, but that is the only issue I have (hit OK to clear them, and all is ok).
Regards

I have same keyboard (iGo branded), and took a while to get the driver sorted 😡 (have no issues though...)
:icon14:

I don't have the iGo keyboard yet (it's in the mail) but I have already installed the driver and I get no errors on boot at all.

I had the same problem with the MultiMedia key. This was caused by my restoring the previous settings after upgrading.
The only way I cured it was to do a reset, *#7370#, and then use Backup to restore everything except the Settings.
Worked for me.

I am hardly suprised, you have to pair the keyboard with the phone using the driver. Bummer, ok, I just unpaired, removed, re-installed (without pairing), and still the same problem.
But I have finally found a way of installing it so it doesn't give the error, simply install it to the memory card instead of the phone memory! Yay.
I was finding when I tried to install to the phone memory (and remove for that matter) that it was saying "can not install, will quit some apps and try again" or a message kind of similar to that, so this is perhaps where the problem lies. When I installed it to the card instead of phone memory, I didn't get this message.
So, that is the solution (I hope!).
Cheers

There have been BT driver issues with keyboards relating to many other devices and not just the N95.
It appears that the keyboards are very fussy and prefer installation of the drivers on a clean and freshly reinstalled phone.
Issues also arise when backup and restore are used (most advice is to not use this when performing a bedrand/update).
If your problems persist then hard reset using the four finger trick and start again. I tend to do this every so often anyway.

When I installed the driver to the card I got strange scrolling behaviour when viewing sites. When scrolling, it would auto scroll straight to the bottom of a page, then freeze, only letting me back in through the phone buttons.

Installing to phone memory stops this.

My battery life has died since upgrading to this firmware, it's always been poor but now it's terrible, charged it this morning and it was dead without use by the afternoon! Also the charger now never stops, the charging icon keeps going up and down for ever and never gets to a point where the battery is fully charged? No problems like this prior to the upgrade.

are you using the wall charger that came with the phone?

I've got the v20 firmware and honestly i've noticed no difference. Infact, this morning i downloaded a 300mb torrent through wlan, used the psiloc IrRemote to browse the tv at work and installed 'my web server,' 'vnes,' deleted a bunch of pictures and cleaned up my memory card. I used the lightsaber application for about 5 minutes (total time). I've been at work since 4:45 am and it's now 11:56 am and my battery shows 6 bars. That's about average for me.

Have to admit that I lost the original charger so bought one off the net, worked fine prior to the upgrade though?
