receiving bluetooth (sounds) and files on n95 8gb

Hiya,

I think I am being dumb here but it has left me stumped none-the-less.

A colleague has tried sending me a sound file from his Windows Mobile phone via bluetooth. We established a connection and the file transferred ok. My phone did the "new message" tone when it had completed but thats it!

I cant find the file anywhere on my system and there was no confirmation action on receipt of the file...

Am i being dumb or does anyone else have this problem. I cant seem to locate my bluetooth received files!

Ages since i got sound/music via bluetooth, but using file manager, try 'Recieved files' in the phone memory.

i dont have a received files in phone memory 😃 i dont have one anywhere - im pretty sure its not anywhere as i have searched all over the fones memory...

do u think if i created a folder called rec'd files in there they'd go in?

its neither turned up in the search nor is it in the text message inbox.... hmmmmmmmm does the phone have to be unlocked (I mean the keypad - does that have to be unlocked) in order for it to work?

Did you pair the two devices? ...maybe the sound was a system sound when the phone was requesting a pairing code?

hmm ill try it again tomorrow - they werent paired tomorrow but now they are... i think u could be right with that actually. thanks for the help

Also, on a side note....when you get the bluetooth file sent and open it, you then have the option to save it. My phone automatically saved it to the attachments folder on the 8gb flash drive.

I only say because it took me a fair old while to find where it randomly saved them! 😡

Hope you get it sorted!

Hiya,

I just tried it again and wht happens is when I receive the file I get a text message but it instantly disappears then it is nowhere to be seen!

Perhaps when I get it it tries storing it in a folder that doesnt exist on phone / mass memory?

Can you give me an exact path as to where your files get stored on your phone / mass memory when receiving a file via blue tooth?

Many thanks,
Daniel

It saves it to the inbox first, like a text message. Then I have to open the text message. Then i have the option to save it. If I choose 'yes' it automatically saves it to the e:\attachments folder. Where e: is the name of the 8gb flash memory.

Hope this helps

how odd because when i receive the text message it instantly disappears - i dont have time to open it, its gone from the inbox too. maybe if i made a folder in my e drive itll be ok..? i could try receiveing something from another phone maybe its his phone thats goosed :P

Dunno mate, it is indeed an odd one! You got recent firmware installed etc, and tried turning it on/off? The N95 is great, but there are a fair few oddities in them which produce crazy results.

Try another phone, or a reset. Or another way of sending the file 😃
