I think Proporta have just been trying to confuse us. First they bring out the Keychain GPS 2000, reviewed here by Andrew Merritt, and then they bring out the Keychain GPS SiRF III Receiver, reviewed here by Andy Langdon, which is even smaller! Read both reviews to get a flavour for the sweet spot between size, battery life and notification LEDs. Or just flip a coin, to see which one to buy...?

I use the Keychain Freedom GPS Sirf III receiver and it is awesome, although from reviews it seems the Keychain GPS 2000 is slightly better in terms of sensitivity and number of satellites locked on to, but nevertheless the Sirf III is amazing in terms of sensitivity.😊
How long does the battery last?
I am thinking of moving from an N95 to an E51 and this might be the thing that makes it happen.

Eh? a) I'd not heard of the Nokia GPS. b) Proporta are great people and volunteered to send out some samples for review - what were we supposed to say? And there was no pressure to give a good review etc.
Give us a break. Next thing, you'll be wanting a refund of your site subscription. Oh wait, there isn't one and we give you all our content for free....
The LD-4W is not a keychain GPS, its quite a bit bigger (x4 or so). Bear in mind this sort of thing is great for someone who wants gps functions and a) doesn't have it their phone and b) wants something small / or are good at leaving things behind that are tied to something more essential.

Fair enough on the Nokia GPS.
Another question. How come you guys are not reporting the disastrous E90 performance and customer complaints. I would think that an organization as reputable as such would be up on this. Go to Nokia forums and see what people are saying about the E90, Nokia support and customer satisfaction.

Do you mean that little keychain accessory that is included in the box is just for styling? Someone better tell Nokia to exclude the keychain statement from their user manual because Rafe has decreed the LD-4W is not a keychain GPS.
Fair enough! I've not actually seen an LD-4W box, just a unit on demo stands. Seems a bit big for key chains at 82.9 X 37 X 7.8 mm vs 49 x 32 x 19 mm (ok so twice as big, not four times!). I'll try and be more accurate next time 😊

Cool. If you want a review, I can write you a small one. In fact the LD-4W was instrumental in me getting rid of the E90 and getting the N81, that and the fact that the E90 is simple a disaster. Nokia could have done better on this.

I find the E90 is the best phone I ever had - and I have tried a lot.
Performance with my 3 flat-rate HSPDA is awsome, Mobile TV just works and the screen and keyboard makes it largely a replacement for my laptop.
There will always be a few complainers in the forums, people who are never happy and always want the next phone or feature.
This site-is one of the most reliable and objective sources on phone related info I know of.

What do you doubt, exactly?
Do you guys know if these actually work with Java phones like S40 (I have a nokia 6300)

I believe they work with only s60 phones, so won't work with the 6300
Just a quick update on the original review, regarding the ruggedness of the unit. Micky (the dog) had an unscheduled, extended run around some muddy fields, including splashing in puddles, if not a dip in a pond, with the Freedom GPS attached. Apart from a small amount of grit making the on/off switch slightly sticky, it's working perfectly still.
The other thing to note is that the non-slip coating has been wearing off the outside, with time, but that's just a cosmetic change.
