Hi Rothmans,
Have you tried the map already? How was they performed?
I have tried Jakarta map, it was completely useless. They are now upgrading Jakarta Map and promised to be ready by end of 1st Quarter 2008.
But learning how the map was performing, I doubt if they can upgrade the Jakarta map perfectly just within 3 months. Anyhow let see what will come up.
Jakarta map guide I just tried did not know elevated toll road that has been in operation since 1990. I traveled on the elevated toll way and the map guide me as if I was traveling on the old road underneath. So on a straight toll way, the map recommended me to take right turn???.
The other funny thing on other trials, when I have arrived at my home/destination, the map was still 2 km behind.
This AsiaGis map does not understand the coordinates, so to search a location you should enter the street name or search from the map displayed on the cell phone screen. So if street name search did not find the place, we will need 20 30 minutes to find the location on that small map.
I would like to know form your own experience with your Manila map, does it work perfectly?.
I still dont understand how come a big brand like Nokia has ever recommend such useless product to their users?
asiamaps to me is just useless. i've tried it with kuala lumpur. the map itself is up to date but it's the interface, the lag and the stupid navigation that made me bite the bullet and pay for the nokia maps. money well spent there i think.
well i only tried manila map since im from the philippines, its not that detailed but i cant compare to any other gps app since its the only app that support manila, nokia maps et al dont even have philippines map... it has voice navigation but it will ask you to turn about 10 meters before or after the road you were suppose to turn...anyhow it just came pre installed in my n95,.. just sharing for those who accidentally formatted their memory card...
