To change product code or not?

Hey, i'm new here so sorry if this question is abit stupid.

I've had my N95 for about a week n a half now. Absolutley love it and its the 02 one with the 8gb sd card. The only problem i have is with the updating of the firware. Obviously the new one has been out since november and with my past experience with sony's 02 phones never getting a firmware update i think the N95 will be the same...... does anyone here know any different?

My second question is if i change the product code to update the n95 to the new firmware can i then immediatley go back (once updated) and change it back to the 02 code so its still ok if it gets totaly broken and needs sent away?

Thanks very much,
Matt

similar question from me....

I have changed the product code from the vodafone (n95 8gb) one, to the euro1 one and updated to the V15 firmware. This however did not fix the problem so i want to take it to the local nokia service centre to ask them. The stickied guide for changing product codes says you should change the code back before receiving support.

I understand that i cant update the firmware backwards to vodafones v11 version, so will changing the product code back to the vodafone one break the v15 firmware or the phone?

no changing the product code won't affect the firmware, however if the service centre reflash the phone you will get the branded version back

Thanks very much for clearing that up for me. I have chnaged the product code and am now downloading the new firmware (bit slow). Will wait for it to complete then put the o2 code back in.

Thanks again!

hy i fel hanging the product code affect the firmware as its the code that resided in memeory please confirm?

i can confirm that i have been able to change my 02 N95 to the unbranded euro 1 - update to the latest firmware and chnage the product code back to 02's. All works great! Much faster phone!
