Hi everyone Im a regular visitor to this site and this is my first post. I would like to take this opportunity to make everyone aware about a new service called Instant Messenger at www.genie.co.uk Basically this service lets you chat instantly to other msn users via wap . Because this service is wap based doesnt use any memory on the phone unlike mercury IM, which Ive never got to work any way. The cost is just the wap connection which my commumicator dials up through my Isp, so weekends and evenings are cheapish. The only bad thing is that the service is only free to the end of the month.

Cheers

Hmmmmm, can one assume also that if you're connected to Genie, that you won't even have to pay for the call?

Now that would be interesting.

Look at genie's contract 15 a month, 600 free texts and free wap.... hmmmmmmm....... shame I use web not wap really

If you have Orange, you can make peak-rate landline calls for dead cheap (less than 5ppm) if you connect via Telco.

I use it a lot and it saves me a packet!

Sorry Mooky I dont think I made that very clear about msn, if your mates are online at home and are msn users, you can chat to them via wap on your phone.

Cheers

I guess it's good for chatting to people internationally, but in the UK (on BTCellnet) my off-peak rate is 5p/min and my weekend rate is 2p/min (those rates also apply to calls made to other BTCellnet mobile phones. Calls to Genie on the other hand cost me 10p/min. I guess its cheaper during the day, but you can say what you want faster in a voice call than internet chat, and MSN can be terribly slow sometimes; plus the order in which chat is sent and received gets mixed up leading to communication confusions! Do you know if there is a way to access Genie at my BTCellnet monthly tarrif rates cheaply (especially for off-peak and weekend?) I'm interested to know how you use it...What the tariff, network and what the charge implications are? How does it work for you...Do you have to sign up to a contract with Genie itself...Wouldn't that effectively mean getting a whole new monthly contract and SIM? How will using Genie WAP make it cost effective? I would like to know more. Cheers!

I would really like a working MSN messenger for 9210 User posted image Tried MercuryIM but it didn't really work User posted image I read something about CellIM but haven't found a download link yet User posted image Some one has the link?

I've e-mailed Cellsoft for details of dates for their IM solution, but no joy.

I contacted Ruksun (maker of Messenger Force) and they gave some extremely positive feedback, but still no date. In fact, when I replied to their encouraging reply, they deleted the e-mail without reading it!

Ruksun have supported Epoc products in the past and I'm sure they're not going to let us down.
