When I copy files using my Mac, I get extra little files?

Hello. I have a Mac at home (I do have a Windows PC at work)... When I use my Mac to connect to my Nokia N95 8GB over USB to transfer MP3 files, I get extra little copies of the MP3s that start with a full stop. I have to then go into the phone and delete these extra files... Quite annoying.

Does anyone here know what I'm on about? Anyway round it? Or should I just use a Windows PC?

You'll get files like ".DS_Store" which come from Macs. These are like desktop.ini files on windows. They just tell the Mac how to display a folder, customizations, etc.

We use both windows and macs in our office, and is quite annoying to have to keep deleting the .DS_Store files when mac users send you folders of files.

They don't do any harm (or take up much space).

It's weird... It's more than that... When I copy MP3 files to the phone over USB there is file starting with "." for every single MP3 file. So I copy over 30 tunes, I get 30 of these "." files... They're named the same as the MP3 files, but with this "." - really odd, I'm not sure why it's doing this?

I remember when I was at uni I used to get this everytime I used a memory stick in the Macs. In the end I wrote a batch file that removed all files that started with "." which I ran whenever it annoyed me.
