I cant get HSDPA working on my phone. i only get edge connection speeds and never any 3g or 3.5g icon. i use the same sim card in an HTC device and i do get HSDPA on that phone. i also dont have a tab for turning on HSDPA under tools/settings/connection/packet data. any ideas?
Thanks
Sam
BTW i have a N95 with the card slot not the one with 8 gigs of internal mem, it is purple if that helps.
Check that you have dual mode under network settings not only GSM, and other than that check the access point you are using to connect. Finaly contact your provider for that.
what country are you located in? what carrier? which n95 do you have? n95-1 or n95-3?
I am in USA i have ATT. and my HTC phone does do HSDPA, so i dont think it is my provider.
dual mode? under network settings? can you give me a menu by menu of how to get there. i am new to symbian.
i don't know what phone i have i think it is a -1

the N95-1 doesn't work on US 3G IIRC, only the N95-3 does.
why is that? i got it because i thought it did HSDPA. is it a software issue or a hardware issue?
It doesnt work on the US 3G frequencies.... you got a camera lens shutter protector thingy on yours? If so it is the N95-1 and you wont be getting 3G:icon13:
well that is very upsetting. thanks for your help
For a guide on the various different versions of N95's, click on the image in my signature below, it was the last thing I have blogged about.
If your handset is relatively new, can you not get a refund and get an N95-3?
i got it at a closing sale at a compusa, for very cheap. so i cant complain much. is there any hacks to get it to work on the right frequency? has anyone messed around with this? (all in all i am very happy with the phone)
Call Nokia USA and they might replace it for you since I think the N95-3 is cheaper than the N95-1. The N95-1 and N9-2 (8GB) are for European/Middle Eastern 3G networks. The N95-3 is only for American 3G networks.
yes it sounds like you are using the UK 3G phone (n95-1 with the lens cover). there is a n95-3 which supports ATT 3G, i'm using it now. i highly suggest you return it if you can and get the n95-3. trust me, this phone screams on HSDPA! the n95-3 is 499USD at tigerdirect and buy.com, which are VERY good deals. also note, the black n95 8GB is coming out in feb 08 with ATT 3G. something to think about. sorry, you dont know how many posts i see from people who were not aware that the version they were buying would not work in USA 3G. blame nokia.
