have any body think to connect a serial modem to the nokia 9210 via the dlr2 cable.

Possibly because the idea is to use the phone on the move and when you are near both a modem and a landline there is often a computer there. At least that's true in my case.

Thats true, but still it would be very nice.
It offers you the possibility to try many things in internet, for example finding the fastest homepage.
If you have to try this being online trough your 9210 it is going to be very expensive.

Actually it IS possible...
Psint has developed a program named Extented Internet... and you can connect with an analog modem BUT you have to get a null modem cable to connect it with the dl2!

Coolmatter

So...has anyone made it? Here in Taiwan, someone has successfully made a small device connecting to the phoneline thru 56K-dialup modem on his nokia 9110. Anyone tried it?

Ive had my 9210 connected to a landline modem for a couple of months now. It works really well. I used psilocs extended internet and made a modem cable to suit. Its a good test for the 9210 on the internet and to download emails.

@anonymous How did you manage it. I used Remote Link for switching off the Nokia integrated link software. Then I connected my 9pin end of the original Nokia cable DLR2 to my landline modem. However, the modem does not response to signals from the 9210 although I installed an configured Extended Internet for a serial cable modem.

You need to make a cable. Probably a 9 pin male to male. Im pretty sure mine is connected as pin2 - pin3, pin3 - pin2, pin4- pin6, pin6 - pin4, pin5 -pin5 pin7 - pin8, pin8 - pin7. Im pretty sure I havnt used pins1 and pins9. Its pretty simple to solder the leads. Just buy a metre of about 9 core computer cable and two 9 pin male connectors. Join one end to your modem (hopefilly its a 9 pin connector on ur modem - if not get a different connector) plug the other end into your DLR2 cable and you should be right. Turn both hardware and flow control I think it is to off. Put in a initialization string. I use AT&FX4 on my netcomm. Data initialization is ATZ. And after all that you should cookin. Hope I havnt missed anything out but I havnt got my phone in front off me to check User posted image

I forgot to tell you that I use a USRobbotics sportster 56 serial modem and a null modem cable.

Does anybody tryed to connect via infrared using extended internet and an externel modem in a laptop? I can`t do it. The modem do not start. And someone could tell me here I ca find a scheme to built a null cable that realy works with 9210.
Could anybody help me?

Does anyone know a way using Serial Cable or IR connection, if it is possible to use my 9210 via a Cable Modem with my PC acting as a "Middle Man"?

Or is there a device on the market (or is someone making a device) so I could log on using my Wireless 802.11b network?

I think would be much better if there was a way for 9210 to be able to use current internet connection to test software and not waste precious call time.

Thanks in Adavance!

If you are using Kevin Millican's PassThru software, you do not need to use a null-modem cable. Just use the standard 9210 serial cable connected to the PC, start PassTru, set up the COM-ports properly and the 9210 will dial through the PC's modem. I use this both for 9210 and Psion S7. You can even get it to work via IrDA on a notebook.

I have not tried connecting to my ISP using an external modem (that will be tested this weekend). But I am currently connected to the internet using RAS and the serial cable to connect to my PC, which in turn is connected to the internet.

Works well. This was done by editing the comms database using tools supplied with the sdk.
