Slick Messenger (Yahoo, ICQ, AIM, MSN, GTalk, Jabber)

For those of you who want Yahoo Messenger. Tried it and it works great ! I'm not sure if you guys knew about this one, so I thought I should share. I like this one cause you don't need to constantly refresh the page to get new messages, like the normal Yahoo web based messenger service.

I actually prefer IM+. Slick seems a bit sluggish on my N95.

As a devout Profimail user, I was quite excited when this came out (although it is still a beta). However, after using it for a while I found it to be wanting and nowhere near as slick as Agile Messenger. So it got canned. However, I've since canned Agile and moved to Fring, as I needed Skype support (and it was free). And I think that Fring is better than Slick as well.

Does Fring have Yahoo, for that's what I need.

I also use fring (on two N95's) however, i find that i can open and use it once, but when i open it again later it doesn't close properly. The screen crashes (not sure if it is the program or just the screen) and you have to re-boot the phone.
I have sent a report and am awaiting a fix.
Happened on both firmware versions. Euro 1

I don't have this problem at all and I've a Euro 1 v20 fw. I can open and close Fring many times and each time it goes through the routine of testing the connection and then loggin in, with no crash or lock up. What version you running? I've 3.24.16.

One alternative is EQU messenger. You can also check this page (my homepage) which contains a list of free messengers.

I just downloaded and installed EQO, it looks good. Only thing I don't like is that I can't go "Invisible"

Also tried out Reporo, and after 5 minutes removed it from my phone, not user friendly at all. Just my 2 cents.

I will stick to Slick and EQO.

Does Fring charge you when they send the link to your phone? Or can anyone give me the link they text you?

Cheers!

the link is per phone from memory... if you are free to receive sms then fring text to you is free also..
the only way you can get charged is if YOU send an invite to a friend... it sends as a text from your phone and therefore is charged to you accordingly.
