Hi everybody and excuse my englsih cause i'am a french guy.
I want to install flash lite player 2.1 on my N80 to test my flash application in real (not in the Flash IDE)
With the help of this site :
http://www.flashdevices.net/2006/12/flash-lite-21-standalone-player-for.html
I download the .sis at this URL :
http://trials.adobe.com/pub/esd/flashlite/flashlite2_1_symbian_s60V3.SIS
When I try to open it with the software installer (on the N80), it says "the installation of flashlite2_1_symbian_s60V3.SIS is not supported".
What is the problem ?
Some comments from the first site says
"..By Anonymous , at Tue Apr 17, 10:40:00 PM PDT
yes, it will work on N80."
How I get flash lite 2.1 on my N80 ?
Thanks everybody
That's Mean that you have to bring a new Whole phone that newer from N80 like N95 like N93 .... Or else your System Phone Can't Install It..........
N80 only supports Flash lite 1.1 not 2.1
So why it's write
If you have one of the following Nokia S60 handsets you can download a free SIS installer:
Nokia S60 3rd edition
- E50, E60, E61, E62, E70, N71, N72, N73, N75, N80, N91, N92, N93, 3250, 5500, 5500 sport
And why on the adobe website, thez said N80 support flash lite 2.1 ?

That's not true as my N80 currently runs FlashLite2.0 (included in Firmware), FlashLite2.1 & FlashLite3.0 (both installed as 3rd party apps).
To the original poster... make sure you don't have the security settings activated for 3rd party application installations.
Menu > tools > app. mgr. > settings >
Software installation = all
online certif. check = off
Hope that helps,
S.
Okay ... thanks to your help but .... I am a noob. I tried to lauch the SIS file direct from the N80.
Now, I use Nokia PC Suite or Nokia Application Installer to install it.
But I get a different problem now. Any flash animation (compiled in Flash lite 1.0, 1.1 2.0 or 2.1) doesn't function.
I get a border around my app with a small boat (a sail) in the middle and .... i can't do anything.
I uninstall flash lite 2.1 and i try to lauch flash lite 1.0 animation, but the result is the same (the little sail). The animation is only a clip moving in 6 frames, compiled in Flash lite 1.0 size 250x200
Do I need to "activate" flash lite or it function direct after the installation ?
The N80 has been updated with Nokia Software Updater before install flash lite
The animation i try to see is this one : http://graphismebarok.free.fr/ (Flash Lite 1.1) It works fine on N95
For steve_perry, security settings are disabled with the same parameters you give me.
Thanks for your help and ... excuse my english 😊
just wondering, did you ever update your phone's firmware?
I updated my N80 to version 5.0719.0.2
I try to lauch the small animation directly from the Imaging panel.
If I open a Flash Lite 1.0 or 1.1 animation, it works fine. But if I try to lauch the same animation compiled in Flash Lite 2.0 or 2.1, I get a error message "The file is corrupt".
I think this message appear cause my flash version installed dontt support FLash 2.1. It is strange cause if I go in "tool --> application manager", I get a Flash Lite app with "installed" description. If I open the details, I get :
Name : Flash Lite
Version : 2.10(0)
Etat (in French) : Installed
Memory used : Mobile memory
Size : 541Ko
Format : Symbian OS
Does anyone have a solution ?
Thanks for your help
You should do a search first because this has already been discussed here before
its no good installing any other version of flash lite onto the phone to play web content because it will not work.
The Nokia browser on the N80 only comes with flash lite 1.1 and it cant be upgraded to any other version, in effect installing any other flash lite products on your phone will only let you play content in the phones memory, not what you can play in the browser
flash light 2 is only available with nokia browser 2 and thats not available or cant be upgraded on the N80, unless Nokia decide to include it in a future firmware release.
Have a look here http://www.s60.com/business/productinfo/builtinapplications/webrowser
Hope that helps.
I do several search before post but a get a lot of message as your's (it is not possible) and anothers like steve_perry
That's not true as my N80 currently runs FlashLite2.0 (included in Firmware), FlashLite2.1 & FlashLite3.0 (both installed as 3rd party apps).
So i don't know how to use it. Flash lite 2.1 is install as a 3rd part apps but the N80 don't use it to play my 2.0 or 2.1 flash application in the memory, it return an error.

you can upload your flash application to rapidshare.com for free, when you have done this give the link here I will download it and try it in my phone, if it works then there is a problem with your set up, if it doesn't work then its never going to work.
Then you will know.
OK.
Here a link to a zip file with a lot of flash animation from flash 1.0 to 2.1 (AS1 and 2). http://rapidshare.com/files/91479026/flash.zip.html
On a N95 (Flash lite 2.0 only i think) all the animation function perfectly. I can play them direct from the integrated browser.
But on a N80, no one can be read with the integrated browser and only the 1.0 and 1.1 can be read in the imaging space.
Thanks for your help.
Ok I tried your animations and could only get one to work with flashlite 2
fl-1_0
All the others when I tried to open said file corrupt
They do however work on the N80 with flashlite 3 installed 😊
So get over to Adobe and get flashlite 3 😊 http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashlite3/
Remember this is a stand alone player and will not integrate with the web browser .. that is impossible unless Nokia decide to include in a future firmware (which is unlikely)
