Problems with video recording on N95 8gb

Has anyone been having problems using the video recorder on the highest quality setting on the 8gb?

It seems to run ok, then after 10 secs the video starts to stutter and the recording time when recording starts to jump.

I've tried a soft and hard reset to try and get rid of the problem, but its still there.

The problem seems to disappear when I set the recording quality down from high to normal.

I'm running the latest firmware v.15

Anyone else come across this problem?

The phone's only 16 days old and was bought Sim free, time to contact Nokia and get a replacement? or does it look like a trip to a service centre?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, just tried it on mine and had no problems. is there another program using up memory and running in the back ground maybe?

suppose to be a known bug isnt it with the V15? mine seems ok though.

Think i read that if you use phone memory it is okay, so might be slow Harddrive. Try using phone memory. Not ideal but will determine the problem..

Yes I had the same problem. This only happened when I upgraded to v15 firmware. You need to backup what you need except the settings option. Format the mass storage, hard reset your phone and then reinstall the firmware again. It fixed my stutter problem... This doesn't happen to everyone but there were a few cases of people reporting this bug. On the Nokia forum the thread was deleted... Nokia hiding something?

Thanks for the info ez2remember, I will do what you suggested. What a pain the butt. If you format the mass storage, did you have to reinstall all your maps for the Nokia Maps application? and you loose all your other data?

Sounds like Nokia are hiding the problem if the thread got deleted, I'm not impressed considering I spent a few hundred quid buying this phone sim free.

with v20.x on the 95-1 .. basically the video and sound mis-match .. it was not an issue with earlier firmware versions .. so its not a hardware issue.
I'm working around the problem by not using highest resolution, TV quality is fine for my purposes anyway.

:frown:

Cheers Liam, I'll have a go at reformatting it all and restoring the settings and seeing what happens. Fingers crossed it should go fine.

format the mass memory and you'll be ok

or you can use the phone memory not the mass memory

100% known to fix that

had same issue

Thanks to everyone who's contributed to the thread, I've reformatted the phone and installed v.15 again, i've tested the video camera and the problem seems to have gone away.

Now to reinstall all those applications all over again.....urgh!

Cheers!

It's a serious bug in this V15 version of firmware. I had to format my N95 8GB as well.

It's a pain in the butt.....and it's got me thinking.

The next time Nokia release a new firmware, does that mean that we all have to go through the same process again and format the hard drive and reinstall all our apps again?

Cos if that's the case, its taken me most of the evening to get to pretty much where I was before....and I still have to transfer all my music across again.

What a waste of time.

its one thing that puts me of re flashing. Unless there are serious additions such as in V15

The next time a new firmware comes out, I'm going to wait a little while and see if there's any bugs.

I don't want to go through the process of reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling everything again, it took 3 hours of my life the other night!

Wont upgrading the firmware automatically have to make you resinstall applications?

No, not to my knowledge, upgrading the firmware in essence results in a phone with new firmware and factory settings.

Prior to upgrading the firmware you can back up all the stuff on your phone and reinstall the applications from the back up.

The Nokia N82 has the ability to install all the applications on the phone once you've upgraded the firmware, hopefully Nokia will impliment this feature on the N95.

A good piece of advice, keep all your installation files backed up on your pc, that way you can just reinstall the application after each firmware upgrade or change to your phone and you don't have to worry about backups not working.

😊

like i said i backed up everything and settings too and meant i didnt have to do much at all once my new firmware was on. I used betalabs nseries pc suite

Cheers waxup and Liam, I'll download N series PC and backup everything the next time new firmware's released. It will ultimately save alot of hassle.

Thanks for the advice!
