I just switched from windows mobile to N95 i found one thing was really better on WM- contact search (or how it's called correctly) - on n95 i need to enter exact starting letters - on WM search works even from middle of the name and not only with typed letters but with other ones which are on the same key also. I hope you understand what I mean 😊
Is there some 3rd party app which can search in THAT way?

If you have the classic N95 you can use Search v4 to do what you're asking. I've just tested it now with the name "Robert". My father and a friend who's middle name is Robert both came up.
You can download it from Nokia's website or via the Download! app on your phone. If you upgrade to v20 though, it's built in and you have instant access to it on your main standby screen.
If you have the N95 8Gb I think it's already on the main standy screen. Not sure.
I downloaded, tried to install but got 'Update Error'. I changed phone language to English but it doeasn't worked out... 😞
Oopsss! I'm very sorry. I yesterday installed newest firmware and Search v4 is in it. I checked it out from the main screen, but it doesn't function as I expect. It searches in everything, thats true. But it's not what im looking for.

Er... don't you just open Contacts and start typing into the entry field at the bottom? Seems to work for me. Filters on all names as far as I can tell.
no.. I think the user is after the lazy man way 😉
i.e. if you wanted Rob, you would just press 762 and it would bring anything up that matched all 3 letters per key like the blackerry method which in this case could be rob, or seb for example... instead of pressing 7, 3 times for r, then 6 3 times for o etc.
I dont see the benifit of typing in characters and it matching the mddle of someones name... cause you would ever do that would you??
SkyQuiKey is THE lazy man's way.
Just type in (as you would with predictive) from the idle screen and up come your contact names (or contacts with the typed numbers in them), bookmarks and programs.
