Topic probably already exists but I couldnt find it.
So, as the title says, is it worth getting the N82 as an upgrade for the N95-1 v20. I am not so worried about the xenon flash but like it because of 3 reasons; 1)smaller package 2) faster application 3) better battery life.
If u wouldn't have the N95 already then YES.
As an upgrade - IMHO no.
There's not really that much difference justifying the difference in price.
Plus the keyboard is really crap comparing to N95! if you text a lot that's a major issue.
I'm with Rottie, featurewise they're very similar and with v20 in the N95-1, I can't imagine there's much of a speed difference. The keys are far too small for me, I tried one in a shop and couldn't get on with it.
Plus, for me I like the bigger screen of the N95 and the fact that it's shorter. Although I do like the idea of the zenon flash.
I won't be upgrading. in fact it seems more like (a word 3Shirts made up) a sidegrade!
I agree, I've been keeping an eye out for any N95 replacements on the horizon and so far nothing is enough of a difference to warrant the upgrade. Maybe if I was buying new and deciding between them I'd go N82 but not as I already have the N95.
To me, an upgrade has to have all the features I currently use and they must work as well as, or better than, the current phone.
The N82 is better in some respects, but not others.
EDIT: Thanks HoundDog. I'll start the campaign to get 'sidegrade' in the Oxford English Dictionary next year

Hey, no worries, it's a great word - credit where credit's due!
as theyve said above.... no its not worth it as an upgrade... UNLESS, you really do like it over the N95 in which case yes it is! 😉 At the end of the day, only you know the actual answer.
The N82 buttons are fiddly but I like the candy bar style.... and it feels a pretty good phone. Would possibly have got one if I didnt have an N95 for the xenon flash.

No one has said anything above
I have the options of the forum set to display the latest post first so I don't have to scroll down each time i check a thread! Much easier.
But I am just typing this to really waste everyone's time with a pointless post! teehee.
thanks guys
as I thought, not worth upgrading. And then theres the hassle of actually getting rid of my n95 and then buying an n82
im surprised nothing better has come out in terms of technology/package as I've had this phone sine May !! Main feature for me is the GPS which I just cannot do without anymore !
Thanks guys

you have just stolen 10 seconds of my life I'll never get back! :bebored:

V 2.0 firmware made the Classic a hard act to beat.
I am struggling to find anything better.
And I reckon the manufacturers are struggling as well.

As I said before - they could put N95's hardware in E61i's casing (keeping N95's 3.5mm jack instead of the crappy connection on E61i) and gain my eternal love...😉

They probably will, with internal 8Gb storage and an 8gb card in a slot - maybe a 8 Mpixel camera too. N96 (or 7, 8, 9?)

they add optical zoom and xenon (for stills) if you're upgrading that much stuff then you need to improve the screen to VGA.
as to the original post - IF you want to take still photos at night - then the N82 would be a good choice - but for everything else the 95 is a better option.
I have the N95 and would have liked the N82 but wasn't available at the time. Now that it's out and my upgrade is due in 4 months I still wouldn't get it as I like my N95 so much. Like the keys better and the size of the screen. N82 just looks like any other candy bar phone out there imo. So i'm going to keep the N95 when upgrade comes and switch to a sim only contract on O2 which is 10 cheaper @ 25pm which i'm currently paying and I get 200 extra mins. I think it will be a while before they come up with a better phone.
Yeah it'll prolly be a while before another flagship phone comes out that'll completely stump the N95. I bought mine from a shop in town and have stuck to PAYG. It's cheaper than getting a contract for at least 12-18 months (well, for me it is anyway), and if I'm using the phone for much longer than that then it's even better value.
