Gmail Aapp loading VERY slowly

9 replies · 3,212 views · Started 22 January 2008

Hiya All,

When I first downloaded the gmail app to my N95 8GB all was great, but it would seem that after about a month of use, it takes about 20 - 30 seconds to actually load the gmail app now before it asks me which connection type I want to use.

Has anybody else had this and if so, how can I make it load faster ?

Regards,

Scott

its some thing wrong with your phne as its running perfectly fine on my phone

Nope, no problems for me. I use it quite a lot as well. When I got it I wasn't sure how to use push email, so I just made myself an email account with gmail and use that as a mobile email address 😊

Maybe you could uninstall the app and reinstall it. You can get it from this address (go via your phone's browser):

http://www.gmail.com/app

yeah the same thing happened to me. i upgraded to the most recent version of gmail java app and the thing takes like 1 minute to load. my friend with an n75 has the same issue. so i just setup gmail IMAP with the default email app and use that now, since its way better anyway. never found a solution to the java app.

I can't even dl it to the phone.

Just got the phone on Thursday.

I go to gmail.com/app and it takes me to a page telling me to go to gmail.com/app and so on.

If I go via mobile.google.com, I get a link for Gmail (download) which is gmail.com/app and we are back in the loop.

Just doesn't seem to be anywhere to actually dl from.

Never had this problem on the K750i, followed the link to load and it was on right away.

Although, I did find it sluggish after a while, but the phone was playing up and the Java worked when it felt like it. Hence the move to N95.

quick question on gmail. is it possible to attach files using the app on the phone?

I've just checked and it doesn't look like it :frown:

I've been exploring the IMAP option and it seems pretty good... except it doesn't work over GPRS. It stays there trying to connect and eventually it times out. It works fine over WiFi so I'm guessing the settings are all OK.

Might it be because I'm on PAYG and O2 (my provider) don't allow this sort of thing for PAYG users?

my e61i had this problem, I simply had gmail app uninstalled and reinstalled by redownloading, now it pops up in a couple of seconds!

Attachments work perfectly over GPRS with Vodafone Contract, so I don't think it is a problem with the Nokia Messaging app itself.
