My WLAN

can anyone think of why my router will only let one thing be connected at one time. ie my pc OR my phone OR laptop but not at the same time?

you haven't turn on the "Router" function in your wlan (i think by "wlan" you meant, "wireless router"😉

It could be a few issues. The first one has been mentioned, the fact that you don't have your router set to function as a router/gateway, but as a hub and your hosts are using the same IP address as default. The second reason could be that you only have your router set to give one IP address through DHCP.

Log into your router to check either or of these and change them accordingly.

i cant log on to it(dont know how) when i type ipconfig into the command line it pops up then dissaperas so i cant get the default gateway address. can anyone explain how to log on to my router

ahh, goto start, and then run and type cmd and hit enter in the run command dialogue. then when a black window pops up, type ipconfig /all (ipconfig "space" /all) and grab default gateway ip address from there.

If you would like one on one help, pm me and i can walk you through everything.

An update for everyone. After a remote desktop connection to snuge, we were unable to get him connected to his router.

It appears that his setup is into a router that is controlled from his isp and is not allowing use to configure it to accept new wireless connections, which is very strange. I can't get to any login prompt for the router after trying http and telnet connections.

I had a huge scare after I tried to set up ICS through the wireless on his pc and he was disconnected from the internet and I wasn't sure if snuge knew how to reconnect so I panicked, contacted a moderator to find contact info so i could call snuge and tell him what to do incase he couldn't get back online. Fortunately, snuge was knowledgeable enough with getting himself back online and so he's back to where he started which is not being able to connect his n95 to his home wireless network.
