8gb, Unable to access mass memory

Hi all.. I have a n95 8gb on vodafone, this morning I transfered music to the device using media player and phone been working fine. I've just tried to access the mass memory via pc but keep getting an error message saying 'mass memory is in use by another application'. I've checked the task manager and no programs running, tried turning the phone off an on but still get the same message.

Can anyone help? Cheers

have you tried turning it off and on?

he said he tried turning the phone on and off.

Remove the memory card. turn phone off, then back on, then insert the mem card and try again.

Yeah have tried that, took battery out too.. Still connects to pc suite and media player but won't access mass memory. Can use the phone file manager to look at the mass memory but can't access it from pc. Haven't installed any new apps for a few days either.

Can't remove the memory card as it has the inbuilt 8gb : )

ahh sorry, overlooked the 8gb n95.... looks like you might have to reinstall the firmware.

Possibly an app that autostarts and hides itself from the task manager.

I've just uninstalled all the apps I've used today and still no joy. Can still install apps to mass memory through pc suite.. All very strange, hoping I'm not going to have to format everything

Also, have you restarted the computer and disconnected all things that access usb ports and use the process viewer on your pc to end the tasks that aren't necessary or may access usb and try again. If still no luck, get a task manager for your phone (not free) if you want to see all the processes running.

Or you could just reflash the firmware.

I have handy taskman on the phone and that shows that the only thing running is 'standby'. Have restarted the computer but that didn't make any difference. What is the best thing to do, format the memory or reinstall the firmware? Was hoping it wouldn't need either of those

How about a hard reset? Although first Id format the memory. Simply save as much as you can via PC suite, and bluetooth if you can, then format it.

Found what the problem was. It was a program call ShoZu, I use it to upload pics to facebook. I installed it to mass memory and it must have been locking the memory somehow.. Uninstalled and all ok now, gonna try it in phone memory now and see what happens.

Thanks everyone for your help and replies

some apps are more hasstle than they are worth!! the more you install the greater the chance of your phone giving up or going wrong...
