Errors after backing up phone on nseries pc suite?

14 replies · 7,307 views · Started 24 January 2008

done a full back up and last couple of times it says at the end (after about 2 hours it takes to back the phone up!!!)

it says, "the backup was finished but errors occured when backing up the nokia device content. for more information see the back up report"

i look at it and all it says on the end is "the calender contents could not be backed up" I have no idea why this is, anyone else?

Also why does it never have the box ticked that says, "back up user files form memory card" I always have to tick that myself.

Try to do a backup without it syncing calender entries and see if you can complete a full backup without any errors. If you can, then I wouldn't worry too much.

You probably have to tick it manually because the contents on the memory card can be backed up by simply copying the contents onto your pc via USB connection. Also, the contents on the memory card change far more often than that in your phone and they just want to confirm with you that you infact want to back up the mem card, and that there is one in the phone maybe... who knows.

Don't use backup/restore.
Just sync and resync after your upgrade.
Saves a lot of hassle.

whats the benefits of symc i take it using the sync app within pc suite?
Surely back up and restore is designed for doing just that?

Could you please inform me which version of PC Suite you are using ? Nokia N Series PC Suite or the Normal pc suite 6.85 etc, Could you please inform me the version of the PC suite also which you are using?

pc suite is latest version. Nseries pc suite is the beta labs version not the one that comes with the phone in the box.

The standard one just wouldnt work at all.

I get a similar error message. Might try the beta version in due course....frustrating to be unable to complete a backup 😮 and it's such a basic function. Maybe I'm a klutz, or maybe the software just isn't delivering.😡

But you can't sync text message.

backup/restoring is fine as long as you avoid backing up the settings (it's one of the items you get to pick)

also, if he isn't changing the firmware then it's not a problem.

I just avoid the backup/restore facility completely as it has caused to many problems overall.
As the OP has found?
