Connection issues

Been using my N95 since April with no problems but about three days ago it stopped connecting to the internet! It won't even ask which access point to use. The wifi no longer picks up any wifi networks and some installed programs will no longer launch.
It's still under warranty but it'll be monday before I'll be able to drop it into a nokia care point so I've been stuck with a barely functional phone.

Has anyone had a similar issues or possibly a solution so I don't have to send the phone away to be repaired?

This sounds like software issues rather than hardware. Have you tried a full hard reset using the key combination?

Yeah I fully reset the phone yesterday but no change the fact that the wifi doesn't work is leading me to think that hardware is partly to blame

Ok just tried the hard reset again cause I noticed the wifi wasn't working before I noticed I couldn't connect to the net using 3G.
After the reset & running the setup wizard I was able to connect to the net using 3G. I then tried to connect to the net using wifi. The browser was hangs while trying to find a network to connect with. I tried to reconnect using 3G but was unable to until I turned the phone off & back on again.

I'm not sure whether this has any significance

Have you yourself performed a firmware upgrade on the phone?

I'm suspecting faulty hardware though.

I'm on V20.0.015 been running that firmware since it came out with no problems up until a few days ago

I noticed that immediately after I flashed my firmware to v20. I had a few connection issues but they subsided after the first day of use.

I would recommend a backup and then a reflash. see if that solves your issues, if not, send it in for repair.

Reformatting/reflashing is usually my first instinct seeing how i'm a network admin for a semi large company and I work alot with contained viruses/malware/spyware and different scenarios dealing with software/hardware upgrades etc.

So if something doesn't work after a change or after a given time period, go back to when it did work and go on from there until you pinpoint the exact cause. You may have installed something or ended an application improperly (or at the wrong time of use) and it corrupted something.

good luck.
