Firstly, i appologise for my very 1st post being a request for some help:frown:

BUT It seems that a may have a battle on my hands!

Last week my N95 (which i love BTW) had a complete screen failure, the rest of the phone was ok, make and take calls etc..

took it to my local Nokia Service Centre and they could not fix it so they sent it to Nokia.

The phone has been returned (i will pick it up on Monday) but Nokia say they wont fix it as 'a micro dot of water was found on the main curcuit board' WTF😡

i have never had the phone enywhere near water dont even stand in the rain making a call (that would be stoooopid) so how could ANY water be in the phone????

as anyone had a similar problem? condensation is the only thing i could think is the culprit but that would'nt be my problem would it? NO and before someone says it I have'nt taken a sauna with my phone😉

cheers

Steve

You'll probably have to buy a replacement screen and install it. I'm sure you can find guides on that on google, or maybe someone here on the forum has replaced a screen before.

hi m8

thanks for the post

it seems that the service centre replaced the screen that did'nt work so they sent it to Nokia

im just after some info before i take this up with Nokia

steve

complain as much as you can, tell them about the service centre working on your phone ONLY if it was a authorized nokia centre.

Just keep complaining and asking for someone higher up and hopefully you'll get a new one sent to you.

Tell them that your highly suspect about the 'water damage', as you have been extremely careful with it, and its never been near water. Perhaps water got on it when it was out of your possesion, i.e. the service center?

Either way, keep complaining and insist any water damage done was not caused by you.

Tbh if it was a 'microdot' then its completely feasible thats its saliva from a technician!

you know what? thats what i was thinking!

I work with electronics (till systems - supply, program and repair) so i aint stupid when it comes to looking after an high tech piece of equipment like the N95. we will see on monday as to what they have to say when i pick the phone up.

😡😡😡

steve

do not take this rubbush from them..

A BLOODY MICRODOT!

how they gonna prove that was you, ask to speak to management and explain to them that this is not your fault and as the phone is under warranty with Nokia they would have to prove your guilt rather than you having to prove your innocence.

Post on here once you've spoken to them, DON'T ACCEPT THEIR S**T..I hope you win mate!

Got the phone back today (with a nice photo of the affected area) the photo must be at least 100x magnification showing the alleged water damage. Well you've guessed it, the phone going back via Nokia freepost with a nice letter to start with.

the original service centre (local to me) said that they did not spot it.

the plot thickens..................................

steve

Well just to let you know

The phone was returned today and is fully repaired 😃

A BIG THANK YOU TO NOKIA :rock::rock:

common sense prevails :icon14:

steve

I'm glad you got it back fully working! Now keep it away from that invisible water that apparently finds its way into your phone without your knowledge.

Good job, well done.

It puzzles me however, how they knew to look for this tiny spec of water under a microscope in the first place.

Strange indeed:con?

they may have repaired it due to the letter i sent with the phone?????

basically it centred around the fact that i have been servicing and repairing electronic cash register equipment for the last 20 years!

so i have a little bit of an idea of what im talking about re. water and electronics😉

Hats off to them as they came through in the end :icon14:
