BONZA! Thanks for the tip. I've been mucking about with Flickr's "zonetag", but it's pretty flakey.

EvilWeasel, yeah, the .nokia page seems to have just 'gone' ... its all good now tho.

Its interesting to see on that page though, that Nokia intend on having this kind of app as a default... and this standalone release is to get a feel of it.

Not sure I want such GPS tags on all my pics. (unless I miss read that page) ?

Kontraband....how does Rafe manage to pre date his home page Top Stories post ? 😉 :angel:

Looks interesting. This will be good when it's fully integrated but I'll give this a trial in the meantime.

I'm sure you will be able to turn off the GPS tagging when it's integrated

I assume you will be able to.. but by turning it off, perhaps your just hiding the exif data from viewable content, rather that not showing it at all. Anyway, if I or anyone was really that bothered about it, then I guess you justy dont start it. I assume it has to be a service that you start as it invokes data charges.

...there is an 'autostart' on / off option in the settings, presume in 'on' state it would activate upon camera activation; in off state you would need to manually start app.

yeah, I meant on the built in version... 😉 I guess that will be optional autostart too..

What I want it to do, is activate when I start the camera.

Currently, it doesnt do this.

...what does the 'autostart' option exactly do then ?

EDIT: sorry, did that sound arsey? .....not had too much time to muck about with it yet, presumed autostart would trigger the app when activating the camera, or does it auto start on 'boot up'

the auto start 'kinda' starts it when you launch the camera but really the app itself runs all the time in the background. It only searched GPS location when you open the camera shutter, or start the camera 8GB way

That is because it is currently a stand-alone app. Once it's integrated into the normal camera app, it won't need to be run separately

I've never really understood these geo-tagging programs. Just out of curiosity, what would it do if you start taking a photo and the phone can't get a GPS lock? I imagine that can happen quite a bit, especially indoors.

= no tag, or I think I read in FAQs that it uses last known GPS lock if within 5 mins or summit

I can see the use. Generally, no with taking pictures of family etc. But if your out on holiday, or taking pictures of landscapes/scenary, plotting exactly where it is (or more precisly, where your taking it from) can be quite interesting.

This does sound like a very interesting application. I've looked through my old photos and thought "where the hell did I take that photo!?". This will help answer that (possibly) age old question.

But here's another one: wouldn't using the GPS so much drain the battery something chronic!?

OK, so I've tried this and it works very well. Can anybody now tell me how to uninstall Flickr's 'Zonetag'? It seems to have disappeared from Application Manager but is definitely still there. I've had this happen with Windows before but never Symbian or EPOC. 😞

So does that mean that taking the photos with N95 will be EVEN SLOWER and draining battery EVEN MORE ...?😉
