Cost of using the nokia maps?n95

If you already have the maps loaded on to your N95 it will connect to 3 only for Assisted positioning which speeds up the gps positioning a bit but no data is transfered.

If you do not have the map data loaded on to the phone then connecting to 3 will download the maps and may incur data charges.

Actually, it does use data, even if its only a few kb each time. Ok for most, but if you dont have a dataplan it can cost you.

Also, even if you have the maps loaded nokia maps still needs a connection, especially using postcode search. You can turn it off, but then you dont get the full postcode search. I have no idea how much data a postcode search uses, but I imagine its very little.

if youy are using the gps i would opt for a 3rd party app like garmin as it seems to be much better. a bit off the subject but good info i would say

The amount of times Ive heard that...NO. And nor are any of the other main ones.

Currently the only free satnav software I know of is amaze, but you need a dataplan for that as it downloads maps on the go.

i can do postcode searches fine. I preloaded the maps for eurpoe and dont use o2.
So costs nothing
