Software to monitor/limit web-usage

HAHA.

I think it would be good for the software makers to incorporate something that notifies you when you have downloaded a certain/set amount of data. Similar to that of the notification you can set your phone to give you when you've reached 1 minute talk time.

The only other way I could see this is on the server side, which we don't have access to, unfortunately.

Can you not call 02 to put a limit on your monthly data? Or at least text you a warning?

Worth a try. If mobile companies offered this as standard, they would have much much less complaints to deal with.

Course, they would miss out on a lot of money too 🙄

The only other way to do it is find out exactly what day your data gets reset, and set an alarm to reset the data counter on the phone.

Does the one on the N95 distingish between wifi data and network data?

Yeah I guess you could go by the data counter but the only problem with that is you don't know exactly the size of each webpage you visit because of images and such so IMO it would be annoying to have to keep checking your data log to see where you're at if you know you are getting close to a personally set limit.

But if it means lessening your data charges then anything is worth a shot.

The phone-companies won't do that, just as you say, because they would miss out on a lot of mo

Worth asking though, Im pretty sure my mum managed to get vodafone to cap one of my brothers for minutes. If 02 would do it with data, you could use it without worrying about it at all.

If you are in the UK. O2 do a web bolt on for £7.50. At least this will save you a substantial amount of money. I hope this helps.

Why not use the inbuilt data log? There's a packet data counter which shows all sent data and all received data?
