But.... a 'blog' IS a 'web log'.... 8-) Anyway, fixed. And I'm off to bed now 'cos I'm poorly.... Have fun playing y'all.
i thought they had discarded mobitubia and asked all beta testers not to give it out? it's awesome news it's released but then again wasnt it cancelled? :O
Although to be fair it doesn't claim to work on an E70, I can confirm that it doesn't (at lest not on mine).
It formats "sideways" on the screen (in keboard closed mode) and is fixed at 320x240 so it looks very small on the E70s hi-res screen.
It does install, load, connect and search quite happily but throws you out when you select a video.
Looks good though - way better than Emtube so I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
emtube is the king
Mobitubia has a flash modern interface, but emTube does the job better IMHO, playback is certainly better on both my N95 8GB and E51.
In the E51's case Mobitubia does work however video playback is very stuttery, whereas emtube which works fine with an equal performance to the N95 8GB.
So emTube gets my vote at the moment, certainly I prefer its more s60 like interface as compared to Mobitubia 'Apple coverflow' like interface.
Don't get me wrong I like Apple products, I own both a Macbook and iMac and they are fantastic, but why does every man and his dog feel the need to make everything with an Apple style interface. You can even download an iPhone theme for your s60 phone now, what's that all about? if you want something that look like an iPhone, go and buy an iPhone.
Ok, have tested it for a little while now, and compared to emTube;
Pros;
-Way better user interface
-Plays clips immediately over my 256 kbit UMTS connection (which is also my permanent access point for my laptop at this moment LOL)
-Video quality appears to be better
Cons;
-Buggy, chrashes sometimes (I've got a N95-1)
-No portrait mode, no autorotate, at least make the text entering part portrait
-Annoying flash screen on start

Hmm... Felt like a nod to Video Center to me, honestly.
And the use of a carousel UI felt right in making this more of a media center-style experience, which is more appropriate to lots of video watching than a traditional S60 list & drill-down interface.
But somehow mimicking Apple? I didn't get that at all.
In any case, emTube is also very impressive, so I'm excited that we have two very competent and different apps to choose from!
Very interesting application. It works much better than emtube on E61i.
